I really liked the closing line, "When we give our gift back to God, no matter what that gift is, He makes it operable and gives it back to us, and then we are ready to pick it up and go into the world He sends us to."

wow!
the way you just switched mid piece from the memory to reality so seamlessly... i almost missed it.
that was so well done.
and yes... some days memories are so strong that it is hard to work out whether it was a now moment or a remembered moment.
i love it when those happen...
this is a beautiful piece.
sounds like your a wonderful mother and your children prolly have some wonderous memories of you making dinner and smiling. =)
