I learned a valuable lesson reading the first chapter excerpt to Mark Radford's new book; when two burley thugs are coming up to your apartment to do you harm, never take time to pack a shaving kit. Just go to the drugstore after you make your getaway. This is a good opening preview for a book that gets into the action quickly.

I enjoyed reading the excerpt...the opening scene gripped my attention, and the protagonist's reaction to the danger in which he finds himself strikes me as true-to-life...a refreshing return to normalcy in the genre.
