Legacy of a Hanged Man (Book) - 6/3/2008 7:34:28 AM
If you know of anyone,or have been in a situation similar to Stevens,then you will understand the uncanny accuracy of this novel and especially the prison officers and padre.
This should be a "must read" for all youngsters,especially those who may have strayed from the straight and narrow.
I thoroughly reccomend this book.

Fancy coming across this book again as I browsed around having just joined the site. I last saw it over here in England, when a friend had just read it and was raving on and on about it being such a brilliant read. I reluctantly, and at his insistence took it home; mostly just to shut him up, and rather hoping I would hate it or find it too boring to get through, and be able to tell him it was crap... I couldn't put it down until I'd finished it!

For five years I was a rural delivery postman, but one of my rounds was town stuff and on one estate outside Dorking (UK), the pavements were peppered with great wallops of turd; I called it 'dancing the dog-shit fandango'as I staggered blind and fearfull through the black winter mornings. And crossing grassy verges felt like sneaking through the VietKong. But Mr Hedge well done to find humour among the turds of your dislike.

Well, thankfully it wasn't a REALLY close encounter! ;) Too bad you couldn't rig up a camera to snap a picture when the dog 'visits' you again... sort of like those cameras that take your picture when you run a red light. The owner of the dog will want proof before he or she does anything about it. Congrats on not being a mean s.o.b. who would put poison out!

I don't understand why we even bother to teach children to strive for perfection, when the rest of the world follows the 'that's good enough' philosophy. I think it was much easier growing up before situational ethics became popular... right was right and wrong was wrong back then, and you never had to wonder whether it was ok to do something. Personal convenience seems to determine whether a law is being broken or not-- no wonder kids think adults are crazy! Bravo for not encouraging the little girl to cheat like everyone else was doing.

hahaha, what is old age though...when I was a teenager 30 was old, when I was 30, 50 seems old, now i am 40`s even 70 doesnt sound old to me......hehehe
