I have made many mistakes in my life. Perhaps missed opportunities when I had a choice. But I always chose something that would enhance my life, not only monetarily but psychologically.
Psychologists have learned that the highest emotional state is one of self-actualization. I reached that state some time ago, leaving most of my worries behind so that I can focus on my writing and understanding of the world around me. It makes me happy the way I am and the way I got here. In my youth I took many chances. But not great risks, risks that would cause me to grow and learn from others I did not know. Now, my focus is close in on opportunities to make my environment more comfortable and less stressful.

As one who has lost several pets over the years, I can truly relate to Geoff's loss and depression. I also believe that each animal is special in its own way, just as human beings are, and after each tragic loss, I resolve myself to the fact that the now departed one can never be replaced. Yet, thankfully, another 'very special one' usually comes along, as if they knew my utter grief, and have arrived to help me through it.
I truly hope Geoff soon finds another special friend.
