The problem I have with this and her other writings on the Missouri outlaws, to believe men like Cole Younger, John Jarrette, Arthur McCoy and the Shepard's, would take orders from a younger and less experienced member of the gang is not feasible. My belief is that decisions were made by concesus, the James brothers may not have even been involved prior to 1869. As far as the planning of robberies, this too was probably a group effort. Her research is very good, but her conclusions I feel are flawed. Cole Younger was a leader during the war, many years his senior, he would never have taken directives from Jesse or anyone else.
