I can relate to this piece, it reminded me of my mother. I did let that anger eat away at my gut for years. Your answer lies within the verse of this wonderful poem, it eats away at your goodness and turns the sweet to bitters. I let it go and forgave and a fresher feeling I have never had! Nicely written!
