Neh, see, Muslims, who have followed wgat Alaah has said, wil be given paradise. See, why would God say not to this and that, when Hell suddenly forgive you for your sins? What is the point of even mentioning Hell fire? Ofcourse Muslims look forward to this, why wouldnt they? The day of judgement is a day when you are accounted for your sins, not just an invitation to Heaven for everyone. The Day of Judgement isnt really horrible, I geuss your looking at you Christian point of view. You know, that we are al sinners, and to be forgiven. And the Hadith that says that "all" Muslims that will be sent to hell, in misinterpreted. See, if you actually studied the Quran, youd actually understand. See, on the Day of judgement, Allah will send Muslims to heaven. But, the people who go to hell, if they beleived in God somewhat, then they will be granted forgivnes. If you want to get an indepth explanation, Id recomend you to a real Muslim scholar. Please before you make any conclusions, refer to a person who can interpret the Quran more efficiently.

“Jihad” like many others here said it,
means “struggle”/“strive”/“endeavour”/“work hard”.
I'm not exactly a person who is quite expert
in the term of linguistic. But personally
I think that the Arabic word “Jihad” is
around equivalent toward the Japanese word “ganbatte”.
Anyway. In regarding the word “Jihad”,
some people these days have been mistakenly its means,
it's “strive”, NOT “strife”!
You might strive in a strife.
But you don't always strife in a strive.
Anyway. Toward muslims the term
“Jihad fisabillah” is regulary heard.
Note: The term “muslim” is a general term,
and it's also can be applied toward Christians,
who are also muslims.
“Jihad fisabilillah” means “strive in the way of God”.
“fi” = “in”
“sabil” = “way”
“illah” = “God”
What is “the way of God”?
It can be many things.
Like trading for example, many good things
can be gained from trading goods.
Another example would be serving people.
Like a waiter in a restoraunt example,
It can be spreading the words of God.
Telling people what Gods have said
to us through Jesus and Muhammad.
Note: I think that “sabillah” if in Japanese
means “Shinto”, which also means “God way”.
So as you can see, most of the terms used
in Islam is quite a general term.
As for wars in Islam.
Yes. Muslims are told to go to war.
Whom should they fight?
The ones that fight them!
In Al Baqarah paragraph 190.
It was said that muslims should have war
on those who had a war on them.
And it's also mentioned that muslims
should haven't gone over the limit.
And God doesn't like those who have gone over the limit.
And what one can be consider as gone over the limit?
Fighting those who didn't fight them!
What about peace?
In Al Anfaal paragraph 61.
If the enemy leaned toward peace,
muslims are also told to leaned toward peace.
I suggest that you should readed the Qur'an more.
As for the event in 11th September 2001.
There are so many weird things that happened in that day.
I suggest that you should review on what happened in that day.
If you think that the United States would let
a renegade foreigner flying in their airspace
without being dealt in a strict manner.
Think again.

Jihad is wrong. Killing others for stupid reasons is not the way. Those 19 hijackers as well as those suicide bombers in Isreal (and others in the past) got a rude awakening when they got to that hot place called hell, where they're buring for eternity...

You are wrong when you say that Bible is equally blood. God of Bible never said to kill innocent people. God gave 10 commanments and one of the commandement was in Exo 20:13 "You shall not murder."
There is no stupid claims in the Bible. Bibel uses the comman term which is still in use, like "Sun set" and "sun rise". Yes, there are 4 corners of earth i.e. North, South, East and West.. so where is the stupid claim?
You said that, "Jesus said "Thos who would not let me rule over them, bring them and slay them before me."
When did Jesus say so? Jesus did not come to kill but to give life - eternal life!
Actually there is nothing to read in your book or articles.. they are all based on misconception because you never read the Bible nor know who God is?

Thanks for your comments! Well, Quran gives more than 16 references of killing innocent people and Hadith also says that those who will kill or do wrong will be going to heaven. How can a person will go to heaven by killing someone?

It is a nice attempt to show what Jihad is but your article does not cover all the aspects of Jihad. Furthermore, you could have put the quotes from the Quran in quotation marks and you could have quoted many more verses from it to establish your argument.
Secondly, like the Koran, the Bible is equally bloody, and also makes stupid claims, such as the sun revolving around the earth, which we know is not true. You also introduce Jesus into the equation, but Jesus said "Thos who would not let me rule over them, bring them and slay them before me." so using Jesus as a role model is simply naive to say the least.

I have given you a ten for your article, cause I am glad you wrote it and gave me a chance to explain to you what 'jihad' is. Firstly Jihad means struggle as you said. It is derived from 'JEHD" meaning struggle. The first and 'higher' Jihad is what we call 'jihad - fe - nafs' i.e. struggle against ones desires. It also includes controlling ones anger. I was although disappointed that even though those idiots did such horrific acts in NY on the 11th you still believe them when they say they do it for God. Once more. 'Allah' means 'the God'. To say, that Islam says kill all those who do not obey Allah i.e. Christians and Jews..? Christians and Jews are the 'ehl - e -kithab'. The believers!. I would like to correct you when you say that Jihad is the most important religious act in Islam. It is not even included in the five pillars of Islam, how can you say it is the most important act?? Please. believe me, as a Muslim. ISLAM means peace. HOW in your 'logic' can you justify such inhumane acts with a 'religion'?. Evil has no religion. nor does goodness.
The Verses you have quoted are out of context. I have been hearing them time and time again.
Once again. Jihad is struggle against ones desires. 'Holy war' would translate to 'Harb al Muthaqin' or something!
