Sad story Dr. Leedom. As a psychiatric social worker, now retired from F/T practice, I worked over the years with hundreds of women who had, for one reason or another, chose the wrong man. The impact on children and the women themselves from an emotional and financial perspective was often appalling. Some of these guys are socio-paths - more of them are little boys in adult bodies who are looking to GET something instead of GIVING and when they find out that parenting, in particular, requires a lot more giving than getting they bail out. Parents in the world need more people like you who can enlighten them, so that they may be prepared to better care for their children.
Children are our flowers, that we need to water drop by drop and protect them from winds. Continue your worthy endeavor, you are on a good path.

Liane,
I was born with the blessing/curse of have an IQ of 147, I also worked in the medical field.
I find it easier to translate legal briefs and terminology than a lot of the medical journals and extracts that I still occasionaly read.
Now, if on the other hand You, being a Doc and a scientist, have a hard time translating the material you are supposed to easily understand. The rest of us are pretty well screwed. So how then does the average person/taxpayer get a handle on this material?
From caring professionals like you. Bless you for being honest about the psycho-babble.
Now a lighter note....Maybe you should run for office and straighten out some of the bureaucratic mess.
