A great story for teenagers who may have a hidden talent. Unfortunately, in spite of her mother's tragic death, Emilie seemed to be very fortunate in many ways. Ballerinas, in particular, have to work very hard from a very early age. It generally takes years before even the best are recognized.
While stories like this are uplifting and give people hope, most young people don't realize the difficulty in the arts and entertainment. Most will give up very early on expectations and settled whatever life they can make outside of their talents.

An interesting story. I know it's fiction, but you have taken quite a bit of license while writing it. I'm from Wisconsin. Before Christmas, sailboats have been stowed away for the winter. If they haven't already, all the lakes will be frozen over for ice fishing and ice boating by November.
Green Valley Farms is a very fanciful place right out of a soap opera. While Wisconsin farms may be large and may have farmhands, all of those nasty chores that Eddie seems to abhor are usually also done by the owners. And any farm(s) that would have a cook, would be rare indeed. Finally, you said that the father (with no name?) went to war in Iran? There was no war in Iran although he may have been on a intelligence mission there and detained.
