I've never been to a slumber party since I'm a man. Thank you for letting me in on what goes on.
Katie certainly was maligned by her older sister and her friends. But it's hard to believe that a young child could do such a thing as the murder twelve sixteen-year-olds without a sound.
Your last line threw me for a minute until I realized that the murderer had killed the dog and then licked Katie's hand at midnight. I'm sure the police combed the place for hair other than the girls, the parents and little Cholmondley, looking for DNA evidence. Saliva on her hand?

People have a tendency to create their own rituals and celebrations with only a vague recollection of history. Fortunately reenactments like I've seen of what happened at Plymouth Colony will help people see the importance of Native Americans and their relationship with those first people from Europe who came to this continent without a clue how to live in the wilderness. And even more ignorance about the people that already lived here.
Unfortunately, that kind of ignorance persists as long as no one teaches young people the truth.
