I sit on the outside of addiction. I have drank, in great quantities and drug in every way but a needle and not been hooked. I am so moved by those who have gone through and come out again. This story reminded me of my days in pain.

I really enjoyed reading this. It could actually be a prose poem too. When I was driving through Oregon I met a woman who told me that her ancestors were a part of the Trail of Tears; there was something sad and yet moving about it.

Your affair's more orthodox than unorthodox. I know almost no one in modren times who hasn't had at least one truly hung up love like the one you're describing. What is truly good about your poem is how well it recreates the unmatched agony we all go through in our search for true passion, affection and commitment. I think a line I once wrote might just describe it: "We're all the walking wounded on the fields of love". And the lucky ones are those who find their way through these eternal battles and secure a calm place for the heart.
