The Tao of HB; Philosophy, Drugs, Love, Loss and Pain (Book) - 5/14/2007 1:27:02 PM
sounds like a good honest book, one thing about the verse curse is that poets have a tendency to spill the beans, i use do mother in law verse until one day i finally figure i was in enough trouble with my wifes family, so now i stay away from this type poetry

Poetic Coup Part II (Short Story) - 7/15/2007 10:51:01 AM
Taken with part one, this reads for me as a wonderful parable on the evolution of an individual's consciousness to accpet its calling to pick up the pen, go forth, and poeticize with all the heart, truth, and integrity at one's command. Much gratitude for the read, Aberjhani

Poetic Coup Part I (Short Story) - 7/15/2007 10:48:39 AM

Snowblindness (Poetry) - 10/5/2007 6:13:49 AM
Nice work...you write a poem of story and reflection, the past and its many travels of youth, peril, and deception through the encounters of life, funny how age can find one seeing the past and wishing one could re-live and or change its course... Nice work HB... Art Sun...

Snowblindness (Poetry) - 9/29/2007 5:33:16 AM

Inexpensive Mortar (Poetry) - 8/11/2007 6:33:24 AM
Pablo Neruda, up there, where the condor can't reach are having a chuckle about you weeping from memory, but he would sure appreciate the sadness inside the words, the smile of that little girl and the masons with dirty hands from work. The feelings and the metaphor go hand in hand. Georg

Inexpensive Mortar (Poetry) - 8/10/2007 11:26:19 PM

Patience (Poetry) - 7/16/2007 2:03:57 AM
Drinking wine with my friend Alejandro de la Vega, he wisely said about your words that "if you are an unicorn you don't need a plunger" And about forgiveness, I wish to had, come and take a glass of wine with us, get out of the Island of Dark and pay Señor Pablo his dues. Z Georg

Patience (Poetry) - 7/15/2007 2:17:04 PM
A well-thought out synapses, HB! Mentoring Old Poets keeps us in the good graces of fishing in literary waters...Patience is a metaphorical line tied with poetry flies, baited to catch a readership, we drop our lines over, close our eyes and wait for that first bite hit with a gentle tug, reel it in, ready with net, and put this Patience in a bushel basket. Catch your limit, HB! Always a pleasure to read you... Warmly, Sage

24 Hours (Poetry) - 5/28/2007 5:24:54 AM
Brilliant, echoes some of my feelings of trudging through a lonely life working to keep a roof over my head and food in the fridge. So good for someone to put into words the feelings I sometimes have.

Claymore Mines and Carnal Knowledge (Poetry) - 5/4/2007 10:14:01 AM
This has my head spinning in all directions as the heat from this write explodes in thought! One can read this and think you've been playing that video game "Metal Gear" and yet, I can read it and see this actually happening to someone who still waits for that one true love ...and as time goes on and the spirit remembers, youth blasts you onto the dance floor...so to speak, like a chaff grenade! GREAT TITLE! Smiles! Love and Peace~ Kimmy~

Gang of Blue (Poetry) - 5/3/2007 8:56:24 AM
You have the right to defuse or should I say release that anger that needs to be ventilate release that steam thats building up within before one blows a valve. I too after retiring from the Police Dept. Had a run in with a wanna be supercop who was not aware I too was a cop Once I ID Myself, his story changed, but stayed stewing within his own arrogance Me, I just walked away as if he did'nt exsit. Peace my friend William

Gang of Blue (Poetry) - 5/2/2007 7:02:45 PM
you anger and frustration is deeply engraved in this poem and justifiably so ...

Gang of Blue (Poetry) - 5/2/2007 11:26:59 AM
OMG this is screaming out the anger and the humiliation felt deep within!! Hope healing will come soon!! Love Tinka

Gang of Blue (Poetry) - 5/2/2007 11:22:47 AM
Bravo!!! Well written. I realize that all men in blue aren't to be judged by the few ignorant, selfish, inconsiderate, egotistical men in blue of that night. That was a very unfortunate, sad and uncalled for retaliation on someone speaking the truth and exercising his freedom of speech. Some times the truth hurts, yes!

Gang of Blue (Poetry) - 5/2/2007 3:30:08 AM
The anger and humiliation is heard loudly in your poem--and sounds like it comes with good reason. I hope your brother, Tony, came through the ordeal without too many physical or emotional scars.

Gang of Blue (Poetry) - 5/1/2007 5:33:51 PM
HB, Most of our men and women in blue are respectable; there are, as in all areas of public service, bad apples that need to be weeded out. I'm sorry for what your brother had to endure; painful powerful telling, well penned sadness. (((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Gang of Blue (Poetry) - 5/1/2007 5:28:04 PM
Thank you brother, glad there is finally some justice to a night that never knew justice existed. You did an excellent job, this is one of my favorites. Voices were meant for being heard. Love you, Tony

Pull the Plug (Poetry) - 5/1/2007 3:17:48 PM

Pull the Plug (Poetry) - 5/1/2007 10:18:28 AM
Well expressed...no wonder I ignore the TV these days!! Thanks for you visit on my Den!! Love Tinka

Pull the Plug (Poetry) - 4/30/2007 6:21:27 AM
A well-stated rant it is--with worthwhile merit, too! I don't watch the news on t.v., I don't read it in the newspapers, I don't listen to it on radio. The sensationalism would be an unwanted exploitation and affront to my mental faculties. I only watch the weather channel, and pray that the world will survive the turmoil of chaos that is blasted through the media. Just a quick thought: Wouldn't it be wonderful if every newscast ended with some magnificent deed of decency and goodwill done to or for someone by someone else?

Pull the Plug (Poetry) - 4/25/2007 7:36:12 PM
when they speak out it will not be due to conscience nor will it entail courage, it will be out of necessity ... i like your verve and the direction you took this poem ......

Pull the Plug (Poetry) - 4/25/2007 5:30:07 AM
Your AD link wasn't highlited on my AD e-mail so I needed to go the hard way to read this one. Some glitch!!! Put one more on the bill, 400 billions granted to the Drug and Pharmaceutical Consortiums to make yet more expensive the medicines that the poor American people can't afford. Yes, I wish they can shut up and stay so, for a long long time. Georg

Pull the Plug (Poetry) - 4/24/2007 11:25:39 PM
SPOT ON EXCELLENCE, HB!!!!!!! The media: they love to create fear and chaos. Perfect example of that today, with the severe weather in the area: and then, they have the NERVE to stick microphones and cameras in the faces of those who suffered damage, "How did you feel when you saw your house coming apart?" How the F**K you SUPPOSED to feel?????????? Jays. Right on, right on, WRITE ON!!!!!!!!! (((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Beautifully penned, the longing is tangible.

Longing for Her (Poetry) - 4/17/2007 2:33:24 AM
Night, alone in a foxhole facing the enemy the mind wanders and you found yourself saying on your head all the sweet words that weren't uttered when you were together, suddenly, you became a poet with an ear singed by a stray and hot one to make you remember to take better cover if you want to say all those words when you go back. Thank you, I remember. Georg

Earth Day in Hindsight (Poetry) - 4/14/2007 11:08:53 AM
This is a truthful indictment of the legacy we are leaving behind. Powerfully stated. Thank you. Love and peace, Regis

Earth Day in Hindsight (Poetry) - 4/11/2007 2:34:32 AM
A recent studie as concluded that from back 740.000 years, the earth warming peak had ocurred within 100.000 years, not because CO2 but from the lack of dust in the atmostphere. It takes 100.000 years to accumulate so much dust as to impede the solar rays to reach the earth producing the Ice Age, then, it takes 100.000 years for the cooled dust to fall and the process to start againg. A cool sea absorbs CO2. The Volcanos are the ones that regulate our clima with how much dust they spew on the atmosphere. Have a nice eruption to cool everybody off. Georg

Earth Day in Hindsight (Poetry) - 4/10/2007 7:13:07 PM
excellent images reinforce the quintessence of earth day and necessity for mankind to pursue working toward its goal ...

Earth Day in Hindsight (Poetry) - 4/10/2007 6:56:37 PM
Wouldn't it be "foresight" as earth day is the 28th of this month...thats the day I smoke green and dedicate it to ole Mom Nature...Ed

I Like Weed (Poetry) - 4/7/2007 3:01:34 AM
If only I had doors on my floor and windows in my ceiling, hot water fire-engine red and cold water in blue psychidelic hues, a dog with two tails to greet me twice as happy and....where was I? Who cares? Okey-dokey bror...ah...yes Georg

I Like Weed (Poetry) - 4/6/2007 9:14:23 PM
Wow!!!!!!!! It allows you to escape who you are...that's the message I read in your lines, a love/hate relationship. That's me and smoking cigarettes. Excellent, HB! (((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I Like Weed (Poetry) - 4/6/2007 12:38:24 PM
Sounds like you understand your doppelganger very well. Certainly descriptive of a love/hate relationship too, and the ramifications of creating a working symbiosis between both. Good write! Light and Wisdom ...

Tribute to Mallory Knox (Poetry) - 3/21/2007 10:12:24 AM
After a few war carnages, the brain ceases to take in no more, even a ghashtly make believe film. But I get the point. Some readers, if they did see the film, will get a not so peaceful night sleep. Nice going... Georg

Tribute to Mallory Knox (Poetry) - 3/21/2007 9:32:58 AM

Little Brother (Poetry) - 3/20/2007 8:03:53 AM
War is a sad thing for everyone. For the ones who have to fight to live and for the ones who have to live without the ones who fought.

24 Hours (Poetry) - 3/20/2007 6:57:59 AM
Wake, see the ceiling and wonder how it hangs from four corners withous falling down in your face. Philosophy, pure and unadultered philosophy forced by coffee abstinence. Humor, fatalisme and an empty glass today. Tomorrow? che serà...serà? Great Georg

UA Flight 977 to San Francisco (Poetry) - 3/17/2007 2:00:10 AM
"What comes next?".....I have a bomb, take me to Havana. Welcome to 2007's century of improvement for your convenience. Last calling to... Georg

UA Flight 977 to San Francisco (Poetry) - 3/16/2007 3:27:05 PM
I feel that when I'm delayed, It's God wanting me to slow down and spend some quality time with him or just take time for myself. Life is such a hassle at times that we forget to slow down. What comes next for you? I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Heed Your Calling (Poetry) - 3/16/2007 3:23:53 PM
Rise Warrior! Let no one choose your path. This is so easy to say but sometimes hard to live by. I wish I had this strength. I love your writing. Keep em coming!

My Mexicans? (Poetry) - 3/16/2007 11:54:14 AM
Exceptionally well written! Your gift of expression is wonderful! I especially like the way you write of that cherry tree in the third stanza, and of course, of family feelings in the rest of the poem.

My Soul Won't Rest (Poetry) - 3/16/2007 11:43:17 AM
Splendid! I like your works!

UA Flight 977 to San Francisco (Poetry) - 3/16/2007 10:57:44 AM
Oh, I understand just what you're saying!! How many times have you waited up to 2 hours for a scheduled doctor's appointment? It seems the system just doesn't care how long you wait anymore. When things like this happen to me, I pull out my little cassette recorder (or my notebook) and I create songs, poetry, listen to one of my audio study tapes, or make future plans. Anything, to fill up the precious hours of my life with something I want to do! You're right -- What comes next? Good write, HB!

Ectopic (Poetry) - 3/7/2007 2:19:28 AM
The huge head of ignorance always will be in front of us with its distorted facial uglyness. Those screaming their judgement never heard of "thou that are without sin...throw the first stone" Rabies are not only constricted to animals.

Ectopic (Poetry) - 3/6/2007 12:20:20 PM
Enjoyed, keep writing....Hugss

Ectopic (Poetry) - 3/6/2007 9:41:25 AM
Only you know what is going on in your heart. Others don't. They don't realize that it's your heart that remains punished. Sometime's we have to make hard decisions. I know I've had to live with a few. I enjoy your heart written poems. Keep it up. I can relate to how you feel.

Heed Your Calling (Poetry) - 3/6/2007 5:33:20 AM
Rise Warrior! Rewrite the pages..... that have been written for you Let no one choose your path Truly words to live by.

Heed Your Calling (Poetry) - 3/6/2007 5:06:54 AM
The writer can be gagged, but his written words will not. A man can be broken, but his convictions will not. Many a writer has died for what he wrote, but his words are still with us. Great piece of literature. Georg

My Mexicans? (Poetry) - 3/5/2007 12:02:33 PM
I think this is well-expressed, HB. We ought to live as one throughout the world. If there were no exploitation, there would be no one starving. Thank you. Love and peace, Regis

Thin Walls (Poetry) - 3/5/2007 4:43:52 AM
The boy grew up, but the mirror, the scream and the tears are still there. An ageless poem to an ageless problem. Well said. Georg

Odds Are On the House (Poetry) - 3/5/2007 1:25:58 AM
Nothing compares to the elation of a eight, a Jack and a Queen of diamonds, when you are holding the nine and ten of diamonds yourself and after saying check (going fishing) two of the players go all-in in a game of Texas hol'm. Nice game HB Georg

A Heart's Cross (Poetry) - 3/5/2007 1:06:54 AM
Perhaps a broken heart ailment has taken more people than we know. Those that had suffered physical torture know that they prefer that to the physichical throbs that cripple the body and send the brain into the darkest recesses of human desperation. Those that haven't had their heart really broken, can't understand your words. Well done. Georg

Thin Walls (Poetry) - 3/4/2007 10:39:06 PM

Empty Well (Poetry) - 3/2/2007 3:06:23 AM
Empty wells are to be there, empty, waiting to be filled. Your are recalling a image of a sad well wishing to be filled after disappointing a thirsty someone. Raw. Georg

My Mexicans? (Poetry) - 2/27/2007 4:16:10 PM
While I can admire your skill with words and your ability to elicit empathy for the poor downtrodden illegals breaking our laws, I can tell you don’t live in a border state. 4000+ illegals every single day breach Arizona borders big as you please, bringing their crime, their kids, and whining for entitlements. I live less than two miles from I10 and gunshots are heard every day. A surging illegal population in the arid Southwest is also straining the supply of water to the point that finished subdivisions out in the middle of nowhere have no water. The growth is adding to a country that represents 4 percent of the world's population but consumes 25 percent of the planet's oil. Politicians are jumpy because they know they’ve done absolutely nothing but saber rattle to stop the influx of illegals and stonewall any attempt to do so. Many of these politicians own businesses that employ illegals, you know, that cheap labor that puts more money in their pockets, while denying even the smallest increase in minimum wage to those workers as they embellish their own wallets with an annual pay raise. Legal immigrants and ILLEGALS and their sympathizers who flaunt this country’s laws and burden our health care and community services, account for 40 percent of population growth. Excessive births over deaths, in a nation whose population is living longer. It is significantly higher in the United States compared with Europe or Japan. Hispanics from Latin America, by far the largest share of recent legal immigrants, are driving the natural increase here. On average, Hispanic women have more children than non-Hispanic white women. No wonder there is such a backlash against illegals who seriously hamper those who are trying to immigrate “legally.” And shame on those who think it isn’t a problem and support illegal entry and giving the finger to our laws. It does takes some degree of intelligence to recognize the problem, and that that sympathizers are a large share of the problem. Those of us who live in border states, and see this everyday, know of what we speak. WE see it every single hour of our every day. What I think is ironic if not hypocritical is those commenting who wail for "poor Mexicans." Apparently they haven't read the Bible verse, "render unto Caesar." Selective memory, perhaps? And also, casting the first stones of "bigotry" against those who are for LEGAL entry to this country. Shame on you. At least us "bigots" follow the law of the country we live in. But I do admire your way with words. You should be a preacher. But a little more research would do you well. Elizabeth

This is so true. There are a lot of Americans that are lazy and want something for nothing. Atleast these mexicans are working hard for a living.

Very powerful lesson here; very well done! We need to learn to overlook the differences and accept people as they are; I am having a hard time with this myself, and it is a daily battle.

A very well written expression of thought, you give credit due to many who strive and strived to live only to provide their families a meal and a home, there are not many who feel the migration of the ones who labor and labored across the fields and within the homes across this great country even deserve to be here.... nice work.....Art sun...

Pancho Villa would had rejoiced. The Corona brothers exploited their own so Mr. Preston could do the same with clean conscience. Then we remember the apocryphal story by Mason Locke Weems of the cherry tree choppend down by Washington, and wonder if Mr. Preston would say "I can't tell a lie, the mexicans did chop down the cherry tree" Exellent cry in defense of the 5$ an hour peon.
