Read The Cliff House Strangler today, September 3, 2010. It transported me back to the nineteenth century where I was intrigued by the mystery while engulfed in historical appropriateness of culture and vocabulary. I smiled at words like "butler, hansom, reticule, and vapors" long evaporated from everyday twenty-first century descriptions. I was intrigued by Sarah Woolson's investigative skills and pleased that author Shirley Tallman offered subtle clues for me to identify the perpetrators.

The Russian Hill Murders is an excellent read. It is well written, well researched, and loaded with marvelous characters. The plot kept me tossing and turning with intrigue, adventure and pure delight.
