This thing reads well. Numerous good lines, and strong foreshadowing of a thirteen-year-old's development of sarcasm. The line about the planning for in case his pal's mother came in is a classic example of comic timing....Marshall was very unaware of this last precautionary measure. I almost laughed at loud, and I never laugh at loud while reading. I did smile wide enough that the laugh lines at either corner of my mouth stayed in place for several seconds. Easy, well-structured, and fun to read.

Very creative. At first I thought you were writing a children's story. But then, I discovered you were writing an American horror story. Oh, what diabolical minds 10-year-olds have! It looks like Emma is well on the way to becoming a card-carrying member of the consumer society… Here today, throw away tomorrow.
