The following is a review I received and I have asked the reviewer his permission to use it! Raising my coffee mug I toast everyone to have a wonderful day, for ole Bobby is sure to have one!
"I have just finished Mercer's Manor, which I read in two sittings and very much enjoyed. I like the character of Dan a lot and found him easy to identify with, and especially the complicated relationship between him and Glory, which is not resolved until the final chapter and the fire at the Wayfarer. The relationship between Dan and Archie is also very well drawn, I think, and lays out the joys and the difficulties two men experience when they try to combine mutual protection and friendship with the process of getting to know each other.
I consider your portrayal of the Nineteenth Century American West a well-researched and colorful portrait of life in those times, and your secondary characters nicely fill out the attitudes and viewpoints of people who lived there then. You also accomplished the difficult task of representing Christian values without resorting to lectures or preaching. I know this is hard to do, and you did it here." A. F.

May have been some misunderstanding on both our parts. The card game was just an excerpt to the whole story. It was 3/4 of one page out of 246! It was an excerpt not a complete story.

A very good play-by-play of a card game with very high stakes… A deed to something of some value. Unfortunately, a story usually has beginning and an end. We get only a whiff of the beginning. A fairly good rendition of the middle action, but no end. The typical come on enticement to get someone to buy and read the book.
But we are all authors here trying to sell our books. Except for my serialized book chapters, I always give the reader a whole story.

I checked your bio out because I found your letter to be a bit unbelievable. I also found that a check from an insurance company of $35 a month to be a little bit unbelievable as well. If everything is true, you certainly have had your share of bad luck.
I, on the other hand, came out of severe disability with the ability to move on and get more education and the work that went with it, able to work until I retired at 69. Also with the good fortune to have long-term care insurance that will carry me through 2019 before I have to dip into my retirement, saved over a lifetime of work.
