The Middle East has been in conflict long before Obama was born, so it is a stretch of logic to lay today's pressing issues at his feet. Let's not forget that he ended the war in Iraq, he led the team that captured and killed bin Laden, and he excised Ghaddafy from Libya without incurring a single American casualty. He has wound down our involvement in Afghanistan, and he led the negotiation that brought about a cessation of Iran's nuclear activities. Those are all incredible achievements when viewed from the chaos he inherited in that region. The major trouble maker in the region is ISIS, not Obama, not the Palestinians, and not Netanyahu. Let's also give credit to the Europeans who are taking in hundreds of thousands of refugees who are fleeing the region because of ISIS terrorists and the dangers from Syria. Obama has an obligation to all in the region, not just to Israel and the Jews.

I'm with you on that last line. I too, hope that wisdom will prevail. Wisdom requires that we learn from what happened in World War II. Oppressed people, regardless of their race or religion, eventually are heard from one way or another. In this case, Europe and Obama (a strange combination) are in a quandary. How to prevent all-out war from erupting from injustice all around. It takes wisdom not to act foolishly. So far Obama hasn't and another Middle Eastern war hasn't added fuel to the bonfire happening in Syria and Iraq.
Any country that creates an underclass in its midst is eventually headed for trouble in a world that yearns to be free and equal.

WASHINGTON -- US President Barack Obama extended the country's national emergency with respect to Iran on Wednesday, noting that the crisis in relations "has not been resolved" despite high-stakes negotiations between the countries under way over Tehran's nuclear program.
The official state of relations has been in crisis for two decades, since March 15, 1995, when President Bill Clinton signed executive executive order 12957 pursuant to the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.
Technically, there are two executive orders on Iran declaring states of emergency: order 12957 and order 12170, signed by President Jimmy Carter. Together, they have frozen Iranian assets held in the United States and have prohibited certain transactions with respect to Iran's petroleum products.
Progress has been made in the relationship, Obama noted a letter to House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio): The interim Joint Plan of Action, which laid the groundwork for nuclear talks, "marks the first time in a decade that Iran has agreed to take, and has taken specific actions that stop the advance and roll back key elements of its nuclear program."
"Nevertheless," he continued, "certain actions and policies of the Government of Iran are contrary to the interests of the United States in the region and continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States."
"For these reasons, I have determined that it is necessary to continue the national emergency declared with respect to Iran and to maintain in force comprehensive sanctions against Iran to deal with this threat."

It is sad that Netanyahu has to come to the United States to campaign for office. His invitation and appearance shows that the monied in the United States controls politics in Israel the way it does in the United States. Without the money on your side, you lose elections.
A smart candidate for US presidency in 2016 would be wise to get him or her self invited to the Knesset for a speech. All that money from Jewish interests would surely clinch the election. But then, with no incumbent president running for a second term, I think the Knesset would be besieged with requests from many Israel supporting candidates from all parties. After all, Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, and other, Independents, all support Israel, don't they?

No one is sent to the U.S. Congress to represent Jews. They are sent to represent Americans. You need to expand your thinking to be more inclusive of us all, not so narrowly focused on Jews. Netanyahu is a tough, hard fighter for Israel. His views are not superior to Obama's, and Kerry's, and all other non Jews--just because he is a dedicated Jew. You need to get past your bias and put a little more trust in the many others who are just as honorable, just as trustworthy as Netanyahu and Jews. Degrading others does not elevate you or Jews.

You are seeped in history and very selective in your choice of failure. You have no vision for the future except to maintain old wounds and exacerbate them. For a learned man, your vilification of the president and the difficult decisions that he has to make are a disgrace. Anyone with common sense can see that his administration, in spite of the difficulty of dealing with all the little religious fanaticism going on in this country and around the world (the source of 90% of our problems) there has been no major upheaval or war or even financial collapse. That is quite remarkable considering the bickering going on and petty people with their petty projects claiming all kinds of things.
The majority did not vote in the last election. The polls show that less than 30% of the electorate voted. So many have lost interest in political bickering in their daily struggle to make a living and could care less what's happening a world away when they're trying to figure out how to stretch their paycheck another week. They feel helpless to change anything when money is controlling politics.
The Republicans won because the very rich funded the Republican candidates and make sure that they provided enough scary half-truths about the president and his party so that their paid and brainwashed people would come out to vote in gerrymandered districts designed to ensure Republican majorities.

Words affect another's feelings, and sometimes we speak aiming at another person not knowing how this other person would feel. I think we all need to use our words with caution...if we have no intention of hurting another's feelings. We must remember all of us are unique individuals, and until we are learned by others and from others we need to pay caution to what we post.

You say quite a lot in positive ways, but among the positive there is the negative profound, because of the hatred of some which grow into many. I admire your thoughts, and in reading them I feel blessed that war, in it's truest form, has never affected this great (once great) nation I live in. But I fear war, that war in the truest form will come here before I die, and I am not a young man.

All scientific research is only the fruit of speculation. How this planet came on, the way human beings are born. It is quite scary when you think about it. If in the beginning there was nothing ... I mean absolutely "NOTHING" in the universe, then how did the sun come about? Whence comes the sun? What made the sun suddenly appear in the sky to begin with since there was no air to support its burning fire? What makes the sun continue to burn? What is the universe of the unknown? Where begins this universe? And where the end comes? It's so scary if you think about it, for we really don't know much of anything how it all began. I see more of the Biblical sightings and evidence of their existence everyday through documentary films, even more convincing to me than the scientific big bang theory. We just have to be grateful for this life we own, no matter how we look at it - both scientifically and religiously. And live as we feel - happy or sad - because we really do not know much about the universe.

Si au début il n'y avait rien ... Je veux dire absolument «rien» dans l'univers, alors comment le soleil le jour? D'où vient le soleil? Ce qui a fait le soleil apparaissent soudainement dans le ciel pour commencer car il n'y avait pas d'air pour soutenir son feu brûlant? Ce qui rend le soleil continue à brûler? Qu'est-ce que l'univers de l'inconnu? Où commence cet univers? Et où la fin arrive? C'est tellement effrayant si vous pensez à ce sujet, car nous ne savons pas vraiment quoi que ce soit comme ça que tout a commencé. Je vois plus de sites bibliques et des preuves de son existence quotidienne, à travers des films documentaires, encore plus convaincant pour moi que la théorie du big bang scientifique. Nous avons juste à être reconnaissants pour cette vie que nous possédons, peu importe la façon dont nous regardons - à la fois scientifiquement et religieusement! Et vivre comme nous le pensons - heureux ou triste - parce que nous ne savons vraiment pas beaucoup sur l'univers.

You are so right, the world is changing quite rapidly, and for all the troubles that we see daily in the news, for the better. Like it is always been, most people are trying to get by… Trying to make a living in a difficult world where they have little or no say in how the world around them operates. For those that are able to retire and vegetate in front of the television, they are the lucky ones.
I like what you say about giving. I find it an obligation to help out wherever I can and however I can. I can't save the world, but by working with a few that I know and making their lives better, I feel quite fulfilled and not just staring at the television until I'm gone.
