I am not fond of this genre. While it seems to be inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's popularity with many iterations of his original novel, the focus on constant fighting to overcome perceived fanciful evil, is getting a little old. Tolkien, at least, focused on quests and redeeming traits rather than simply action for action's sake… Just another thriller with a lot of fighting to keep the adrenaline pumping, an unfortunate, and all too human, trait.
That said, the piece is well written, and I must commend you for keeping track of all the strange names, places, languages, and other stuff that you have to pack into any fantasy novel. The sad thing is, most fantasy is just human soap opera. True to life historical fiction is much more to my liking. And true stories are often much better than fictional ones.
