Mulberry Rock is a nice name for a fictitious small town in America. Your story echoes so many like it in small towns everywhere. I had trouble following the characters because I'm not used to reading stories like this with so many characters, so a TV show version would make it much easier for me to follow. ;-)
I also thought that it was part of a larger book until it ended, making it clearly a short story. I'm sure that parts of the story come from real life because they are so realistic. Very well written. I only spotted two little errors, a lone, "r.", and EMT's being possessive rather than the plural, EMTs. Microsoft Word spellchecker doesn't know the difference. ;-)

I once felt the stream of this poem and your heartfelt words and at the time I thought the longing would never go away. Time though has a way of changing hurt for a lost love into a sweet memory of love that was. Thank you for your words...

I spent some time, during my preteen years, growing up on my uncles corn farm in DeKalb Illinois. He had several cows who loved when I came to visit. This brought back some good memories. Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed. r
