I assume this is a fiction. At first I was enjoying the humor of dealing with dust, spiders and other evil things in the attic, like the inanimate box that is somehow culpable in a lawful liability suit.
And then, you get down to the dark and dirty secret of a kidnapping and a twist in the story that changes everything to a tearjerker. Great job!
I am a twin and a fellow engineer friend of mine suffered a child that was a blue baby with a sac around his lungs. My friend is long dead, but I attended the boy's mother's wedding to a third husband a couple of years ago and he was there… Married and with three children… Doing fine in spite of his setback at birth.

It is interesting that, while most of us find the physical attraction of someone new quite exciting and may find it difficult to approach them in what is generally called, "love at first sight," it is only when written that we become literary and write for a Pulitzer Prize rather than the reality of the situation. ;-)

That certainly was a lot of drama and dredged up relationships all happening in a single wake! You certainly seem to have an intimate relationship with funerals and homosexual life to write such a well filled out story like this.
I felt as though I was there with you as I read. The sign of a very good writer. I have a homosexual trend who has written a novel recently about his native Galveston, Two Left Shoes. I will forward the link to your story to him.
