I love history told well and accurately. I have never heard of Mick Marner and that distance record that he achieved by refueling his Fokker biplane repeated times. I have heard of the Wright brothers, Curtis, Lindbergh, Ehrhardt and Hughes and some of their records, but I'm not an airplane aficionado or history buff, so this story is new to me.
Your excerpt is riveting, like a good novel, but I've always said that real life is often much more compelling than fiction. I can't imagine being doused with gasoline and continuing on. Reads like this one should be a movie. I will definitely see it if it is. But don't expect me to read the book soon. I've already promised too many other authors, and don't want to disappoint them.
