To think this book was born out of an overzealous worker one day...What a journey this writer has to undertake.
This writer's sequential way of presenting her life story was a stroke of brilliance for the readers.
The reader experiences many levels of human emotion and reads of many events that are puzzling until you realize the entirety of the story.
Joanet's honest portrayal of her life and the history of her family is one that certainly not many people can relate to.
The unnerving takeaway from this publication is that this person is not alone in her search for the documentation needed to placate the government and continue with her life.

An Angel For You seems to be about the many Angels that have come inot Chris's life, yet she seems to be missing something in each relationship. She seems to want to change in order to be loved in return. The poetry is exceptional in some areas. The use of dates leads to confustion and do not progress logically. I like the use of the Prayer of St. Francis and the picture at the end; but again the dates are out of order. I give it three stars. Thanks. Fatty

"An Angel for Your" is an outstanding collection of letters and poems. People who read it will be amazed how things are not any different today than they were in the 1960s and 1970s.

A good article in the Stories section. While I'm quite aware of the problems of women in engineering and management, I totally wasn't aware of problems that women have in the construction trades, like carpentry. I come from a techie background where I took shop courses in many of the trades in preparation for going into engineering, and later management and teaching courses at that level. When I taught MBAs back in 1980, my classes were more than 50% female. But I'm sure that the reason for that was that many women felt that they were not moving ahead and needed higher degrees in order to do so in the male-dominated business world.
My mother worked as a factory laborer in a dirty shoe factory. People don't think of women working in dirty and highly physical work like carpentry, thinking that it is, "men's work." But from the women that I've seen in the trades, many are highly skilled and even respected by fellow workers. I can see why unions may be dragging their feet, because there has always been a lot of chauvinism when it comes to and their hierarchy of accomplishment almost like cultish clubs such as the Freemasons.
Good luck with your cause. Someday very soon, women will receive equal pay for equal work and not have to pay for childcare while they work.

Carpentry and woodworking come natural to me. I framed mobile homes in a factory before going to college. But after my hands and arms were paralyzed in spinal surgery, I had to give up factory labor and engineering for the academic route.
Since my disability was visible, like your femininity, many times I was discriminated against because the people making the decision, wrongly thought, like you, that I couldn't do the job or work well with others doing the job. Sound familiar?
When I could no longer walk and try to pass for normal, I started to get active politically, like you have. It continues to be an uphill climb. But we will all make equal treatment and be judged by our character and abilities rather than a misperception.

Chris, would you tell the three thousand or so U S citizens that died in the 9/11 2001 airplane hi-jackings at the hands of demented zealots, who decided innocent people must die for their fanatical beliefs, that war is nonsensical? Or are you part of the crowd who chases around on our university campuses charging the evil George Bush actually set up that disaster? There are many legitimate things you might raise questions about but at least have the intelligence to tie your arguments together with solid research and logic. Oh yeah, I don't know of anyone, military or not who likes war, that would be truly insane. But the US is a free country that has remained free because of her strength. Incidentally, to have your Naomi Wolf try to equate Bush to Adolf Hitler is the dimented ranting of an academia dumb-bell. To insinuate that to change America as she would to a communist-block puppet-regime is glaring proof of why we're going down the road we are today. It is definitely not because George W. Bush has some secret agenda. I have never met a left-winger who could stand on the same stage with him. And to call themselves patriots is a ribald joke.
