I've heard that it's cold in California. You have described it well.

Celebrating my 64th Birthday in the Dead Zone (Poetry) - 9/16/2013 6:42:25 AM
You certainly described the place well… Even though you seem out of place there.
I long to hear the lyrics again myself. However, once heard I may not understand the subtle meaning that many of the words impart to the young and hip crowd… texting while they listen, multitasking their experience to the hilt.

Celebrating my 64th Birthday in the Dead Zone (Poetry) - 9/16/2013 5:01:43 AM
Very descriptive. Our idea of "night life" changes, though I did celebrate my 70th in a shit-kicker bar.
Whalers’ Cove Cabin (Poetry) - 9/12/2013 11:00:04 AM
Wonderfully imagined. Archaeology of a bygone era. Whaling in California is extinct now, the Bailey Wick of whale watchers, international.

Mirage (Poetry) - 8/19/2013 8:10:54 AM
You have described the scene etched in my memory of the white banks of fog that move in and out of the Bay. Although I don't believe I ever saw a “slack” ocean on that shore.

A Day in the Life of the 1% (Poetry) - 8/15/2013 11:19:02 AM
Who says money equates with being elite? Does having money makes you any happier, or just more obvious? Your poem points out the growing tragedy of the haves, and the haves not.
The 99%, most of them, are hard-working poor with no assets stuck in the consumer matrix of the 1%. Since no one can, “live off the land,” any more, most of the hard-working have become wage slaves to the rich, corporate or not. Unless we want to be a South American plutocracy, we had better heed the meaning of this and get the word out that we won't tolerate the rich being elite just because they're greedy. They will have to be kind and generous as well.

Reads like a magical place where you can sit for hours and watch all these things pass you by.

You really got the mysterious feeling - almost creepy, but not.
Father's Day, 2013 (Poetry) - 6/17/2013 6:49:49 AM
Yesterday, my brother went golfing alone. His wife went out boating with three “Merry Widows.” I guess not all widows mourn their husbands on Father's Day.
That reminds me, I better get my brother that CD of “Chasing Classic Cars.” I'm sure his wife won't enjoy it as much as he.

Gone to the Dogs (Poetry) - 6/11/2013 5:54:48 AM
You are very naughty.… Undoing all that haughty!
Long ago (1966) my grandmother and I were touring Chinatown in the City in late afternoon when we came upon a cheap steakhouse upstairs off Grant Avenue. we always ate that time of the day anyway, so we ascended to the third floor to an empty restaurant and sat in a booth. As soon as our cheap steaks arrived, a poodle came and sat up at the end of the table begging the whole time we ate. We couldn't help giving him a couple of scraps. I got the feeling that that dog was fed that way every day.

Jennifer,
Loved this! I have a dog of my own so dog poetry touches my heart. May the dogs always have a little bit of disobedience, I say let them be happy.
Many blessings,
