The answer is quite simple. What we've got should be what we need, and not much more. Perhaps the most important thing is to be healthy and happy. Otherwise, regardless of what we've got, life is difficult. I think that the more one has, the more one's responsibility increases. With more, there is less freedom. Throwing off the baggage of excess and living more simply can have its rewards and happiness.

There are many clichés for not seeing it through like, dropping the ball. And, completing something difficult, as Richard indicates, is no guarantee of success. However, it is an accomplishment to complete tasks, however small. Eventually small tasks can add up to a large result, hopefully for the better.

Good message. But seeing something through, or finishing it, does not promise success. It does, however, promise the satisfaction of having completed it. Which, can be of great contentment to the soul. Reminds me of something my carpenter father spoke often when I was a snotty-nosed know-it-all in my teens: 'a job worth doing is worth doing right.' I've never forgotten that. And to this day I have never tackled a project, or a job, that I haven't given my all to. Thanks for sharing your gift. r

We've all got to ask ourselves this: What did I do today that is different from yesterday? To some.... It's a repeat of yesterday, and the day before yesterday... and then was the day before yesterday...and the day before that yesterday.... Same thing repeating itself like a parrot over and over again.
So sad when that happens, for the person who does it is stationary to one spot himself/herself, with no chance of improving himself/herself. I feel so SAD for those people, for they don't know what THEY themselves are missing out in life. Don't you agree with me that everyone needs to do things a little different everyday in order to improve of oneself??

I have been around people who feared life and it confuses me. We humans are easily misled by unnatural fears and so many fall for the fears and therefore cut short their lives because they never face what could obviously be wonderful experiences because of their fear. Listening is an art that I haven't mastered very well. As soon as I hear someone talking to me my mind immediately fills with something to say in response. If I listen too long, I lose the thought of something I wanted to tell the speaker. Conversation should not consist of mutual monologues, but interactive dialogue.

You are so right. Happy thoughts are so important in our lives because it makes us who we are. I can't live my life any other ways, I'm just a happy love-filled person. I give love and receive love and I'm always happy. Of course there are moments in my life that I feel sad too, but the sadness is short-lived because my happiness outweighs the sadness. I don't know how to write sad poems. If I wrote them they would not be real to me.

Lately, your uplifting poems have started to take a more macabre turn. Maybe that's just a result of trying to come up with a new idea every day, day after day, that is positive and uplifting. I would find that a impossible challenge. Why I write from many points of view. Shifting gears helps me not get bored and rejuvenates me.

Awareness of the unrelenting Claw, not fear, is always a good thing. We can never let negative peeps or things dominate our lives.
I've been busy with a schizolhrenic friend who let the Claw catch and overwhelm her. Now she is on a very long, difficult journey back to stability. Your poem gives us a hint or two of her challening struggles.
Last night, during visiting hours she leaped well pass her catatonic state and started talking in a flood of emotions. She told me that her oldest sister, who i nicknamed The Devil, told her she would have to be locked away, FOREVER, in a mental institution! I believe her brother and other sister told her to stop taking her meds.

Love your poetry, Simon. I'm sorry I haven't commented on your wonderful poetry the past few weeks. I had to have my precious dog put down Nov. 17th. I'd had my baby 11 years. That's alot of memories. It has hurt me so bad, words just can't explain.

Recently, regrettably, a friend retreated behind some walls no one can see.............I guess she finds it safe in there. Occassionally, she comes out and is herself, and then she retreats again. Sad, but true. Anyway, one good thing has come from the evil done to my poor little friend. I have felt poetic lately.
