I enjoyed this poem very much. It seems realistic, as if you were able to read the thoughts of the young soldier. The picture is a perfect accompaniment, too.

Savage Grace, as I just remarked at Tinka's, honesty will see you through. Maybe that sounds smug...however, it's a bit of wisdom acquired the tough way. You express yourself well and catch the reader's empathy.

Savage Grace, you express the horrendous suffering we're capable of when we experience guilt, depression, hardships on the soul in a most touching way. The fact that you can end on a note of renewal and hope and the realization 'you got through it' is wonderful and touching as well.
