Once Upon a Family Swing (Short Story) - 2/20/2008 11:25:25 PM
That was a very sweet story. Many children today do not have this kind of family unit or this kind of love. Your memories are precious.

A Matter of Pride (Poetry) - 10/24/2008 7:38:02 AM
Wisdom is abounding in this poem. It's easy to see that you, Tina, would be a great friend to have. If we always took the time to see through another's eyes, friendships would last longer and criticism would fall by the wayside. Connie
A Matter of Pride (Poetry) - 5/11/2008 1:58:40 PM
Yes, a true friend shares the good and the bad. But sometimes they are separated by events that one doesn't feel comfortable sharing. Forgiveness is the way to healing and feeling better about you, them and everyone. Excellent. Liz
A Matter of Pride (Poetry) - 5/9/2008 8:42:13 PM
Tina, you showcase the struggle of forgiveness and understanding, the pain in holding on to bad feelings and the joy, the actual recommencement of that damaged section of life that comes with forgiving. We have all faced that struggle, and for me it was very real. I thank you for seeing it as important enough to write about and to share. Lovely job.

I'm glad you have put your hurts away, and give your friend the emotional support that she needs. Good friends always understand each other no matter what has happened.
Wonderful write!

A Matter of Pride (Poetry) - 5/9/2008 4:11:03 PM
A painful write but I believe friendship will prevail. Sometimes during difficult times we are not always thinking in the right frame of mind. My prayer goes out to the family.
A Matter of Pride (Poetry) - 5/9/2008 3:49:10 PM
Tina, as hard as it is for you not to be included at the time of your friends Mother's death, I'm sure there must have been so much hurt for your friend, at the time, that she was not thinking as clearly as she should have been. I know this same situation happened to me when my Dad died, I was so caught up in the pain, that I didn't feel like seeing or talking to anyone. All I wanted to do was to hold unto the minutes that remained to be with him. I guess I was selfish but I just wanted him to know I was there and that he was loved beyond ever being able to express to him. I'm sure your friend will explain to you when she doesn't feel so hurt and isn't in pain herself. Your poem is great...it expresses the feelings of how we feel when we are left out but sometimes, people are so hurt they don't want to even see their siblings. My deepest sympathy goes out to your friend.
Alone (Poetry) - 5/7/2008 5:17:41 PM
Very thoughtful and thought-provoking both. I cherish my alone-time, but sometimes wonder how much of it I could handle. I have never had a room that was just mine. As a kid, I slept in the middle of 2 others (both bed-wetters, which I was not)
So our lives are different. I believe God made us with a need for companionship with other people. I like that you came to that conclusion. Another benefit is that we can then hold each other accountable.
Enjoyed reading this.
Connie
Alone (Poetry) - 5/6/2008 10:59:26 AM
Beautiful. I am in much the same situation and alone can be very lonely. But it has its pluses too. By the way I am not being notified when you post. I would like to be. Liz
Alone (Poetry) - 3/21/2008 7:08:13 PM
Yes, I like how this turned out, so true.
Alone (Poetry) - 3/20/2008 11:51:28 AM
You bring out a very good point. There is a very big difference between being alone and being lonely, well said....

Mirror Mirror (Poetry) - 3/16/2008 7:30:51 AM
I think we have all looked in the mirror and seen a stranger looking back, and as we age it seems to happen more frequently. I look in the mirror and the 16 year old in me asks who that 50 year old broad is all the time. Sensitive subject, sensitively addressed. Lovely, provocative read. Thanks Tina.
be well and happy,
Kathy
Mirror Mirror (Poetry) - 3/15/2008 4:57:53 PM
I thought I saw a masterpiece, until i realised it was a mirror.
But yer gotta look deeper than the wrapping, and see the reflection of the soul, looking back... When I do that, my mirror's black...
Mirror Mirror (Poetry) - 3/15/2008 7:52:05 AM
One can only wonder. I look in the mirror, and I see I am getting older, too. Getting saggy in the face, see grey poppin' out in my hair. YIKES!
And my health problems don't help any!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :)

Realization (Poetry) - 3/10/2008 5:14:20 AM
Tina,
There is nothing more peaceful than sitting in solitude near an ocean, a lake, or some other locale (such as a campground in the woods) and taking in the joys of nature that we're often too busy or self-consumed to appreciate and enjoy.
May we all read your poem and vow to do this!
All the best and thanks for sharing this poem.
Jill

very well written piece Tina...

Together Alone (Poetry) - 3/4/2008 1:02:02 PM
Anxiety filled write through the internet, a new wave way of dating I take it. Guess I am still old school, preference is for face to face, but I do understand....

Together Alone (Poetry) - 3/4/2008 7:05:32 AM
Tina,
I experienced these same anxieties, just last month. It is so easy, I guess, to know someone through phone calls, e-mails, etc. but be so apprehensive about spending time with them, in person. In my case, I had met the individual before and we were offline friends, first. That being said, we had not seen each other in quite some time and people change. Fortunately, in my case, the day was perfect and lived up to the expectations I had envisioned in my mind.
You captured the emotional aspect of this poem and topic, very well.
Thanks,
Jill
Together Alone (Poetry) - 3/3/2008 7:35:29 PM
This poem so well describes the insecurities and doubts and negatives that nearly socially paralize us vs. the desire, need, and comulsion to commune with others on a sexual, intimate, intense level that only two can usually share. I love it. Great write.
Love,
Kathy
Dangerous Knowledge (Poetry) - 3/3/2008 9:00:34 AM

Dangerous Knowledge (Poetry) - 3/3/2008 1:12:18 AM
Oh I most definitly enjoyed this one! I love topics like this one.....Great job!
Dangerous Knowledge (Poetry) - 3/2/2008 11:03:11 PM
I agree with John to the extent that the knowledge is of limited danger....if it is such that puts a person in danger, say, a child, then action must be taken, whatever the risk to oneself.
Very provocative lines. You sure don't let a person be think lazily.
love,
Kathy
Dangerous Knowledge (Poetry) - 3/2/2008 9:40:34 PM
...they say some things are better left unsaid...but somehow...in time they seem to speak for themselves anyway. I yet believe that to tell the truth...no matter how painful...in time will take the dangerous out of knowledge.
well written thoughts Tina...

Indifference (Poetry) - 2/3/2008 12:14:04 PM
I, too, was overcome with a similar emotion when I went to the Wall many years ago. Your poem fills my heart with sadness. Yet, you write of their heroism with the same strength of our soldiers.
God bless you. Kathy
Indifference (Poetry) - 2/3/2008 11:22:56 AM
Oh, TINA! This one moves me to tears-what we did to our Vietnam Veterans should be a crime! No, the war wasn't popular (what war IS?) but dangit, they served. They came home to screams of "Babykiller" and were spit on. They were ignored, by their fellow citizens and the Government.
The verse that stands out and begs to be saluted is,
"My life was untouched by the Vietnam War
Their lives were taken by the cold hand of Death
Not once had I reflected on the loss of their lives
-----------------------------until today."
Thank you for reflecting, for honoring their ultimate sacrifice. It's never too late to rectify the wrongs done by our Nation; it begins within each of us. Now, our Iraqi and Afghanistan Veterans are going through what Vietnam Vets did. Sad. "Those who forget history are condemned to repeast it."
Thank YOU for remembering. Saving this one. Well done.
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. *tears*

Weekend Warriors (Poetry) - 2/3/2008 6:48:48 AM
As the daughter of/sister of/niece of/cousins of Veterans, and a Veteran, myself, I had to read this one. We forget the sacrifices made by our reservists. An excellent reminder, thank you for writing this one.

The Old Lady (Poetry) - 2/3/2008 6:47:02 AM
Tina,
An excellent write to not judge a book by its cover, to treat others with the same dignity and respect we want. Well done.
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
The Old Lady (Poetry) - 2/2/2008 9:56:19 PM
Powerful write; I can relate to the medical problems aspect of it. I am not even fifty, but I have high blood pressure, underactive thyroid, degenerative arthtitis that affects my walking (I use crutches), am hard of hearing and have vision problems (wear glasses; have done so for years!), and I have a colostomy (tumor removed in 2006, NONcancerous). I am falling apart. Very well penned!
The Old Lady (Poetry) - 2/2/2008 8:02:50 PM
There's a lot to be said , "don't judge a book by its cover!!!!" This is an incredible reminder to all of us to treat others with the same respect and courtesy that we would like.
God bless you. Kathy
The Old Lady (Poetry) - 2/2/2008 6:40:43 PM
Tina, this is touching and so right on all levels! A wonderful offering...insight and wisdom here.
It reminds me of a newspaper column I once read, in which the reporter mercilessly condemned all women who dressed in ways that differed from her own inflated opinion of how a woman ought to dress...
Well done!
Gina
The Old Lady (Poetry) - 2/2/2008 6:35:47 PM
...with revered thought...I have seen this woman also...and with your poems end...and in agreement with your last sentence.
well penned...
