A reflection painted in these lines seeking to escape the ghosts of the past. Well expressed work. I checked your website and in particular to enjoy your artwork...very impressive as I am an artist as well and do appreciate your talent. Thank you for sharing this.

Mirror ...Mirror (Poetry) - 1/11/2008 3:05:20 AM
Belinda,
This is so sad. I think so much of these diseases have to do with peer worship. If only we could see the good that others see in us our shortcomings wouldn't matter that much. People tend to set goals for themselves and if they don't achieve them they are devastated. They don't realize that half a goal is better than none at all. When I read poems/stories such as yours I often think of Karen Carpenter. A young girl with a golden voice who died so young because she wasn't satisfied with her weight. Lost to this dreaded disease. What a waste of life. Sorry to bend your ear, please forgive my ramblings but your poem set me off. Peace, Love and Blessings to You and Yours Always, Paul.

this would be a better lyric for a song than a poem. it is quite sing songy.

Belinda,
My father had Alzheimer's so I can surely sympathize. Take my word for it the best way is to confront it head on. Don't ever show pity for them and always treat them as an equal. They are still human beings. As the disease progresses it will become easier for them to remember what happened 30 years ago than what happened yesterday. My Thoughts are with you and your granny and I will keep you both in my prayers. God Bless You Always, Paul.

Indeed this is sad. We had one who thought he was still in the war, and locked himself in a cabinet saying those damn japs have buried me.. plus another who just did not recognise us, it is distressing, but you're not alone, and funnily enough just today on the bbc here, they think they've found a new med to combat it..
All I ever said, was that the brain is playing tricks on you, in fact i said it to many in the place...
Good candid write...
