You are so right. We treat our veterans rather shabbily to say the least. Your poem touched me, as I have loved ones that are or were veterans, and sometimes you just ponder why does war happen and do this. Tragic.

These words should be set to music, if they are not already. This poem would make a wonderful song. Loss and more specifically, lost love, has been a universal topic for writers, since the beginning of time, or so it seems. This poem further adds to the beauty often formed in the wake of devastation.
