What a wonderful article. English does have too many exceptions. I'm being considered for an editing job. The publisher asked that I edit a 22 page manuscript as a sort of "test". I was told that their house uses the Chicago Manual of Style. Pretty simple at first blush but after 8 or 9 hours on the site I was ready to open a vein!

Very interesting article. The definitions herein helped me to better understand your poem. I have always been intrigued by the elements that ultimately comprise any particular "state of being" - whether it be human or not. I am particularly drawn by this notion of "consciousness." I believe that we are all elements of Source; I have a very pantheistic/Gaia view of life and spirituality. Your body of work presented here at AD shows an inquisitive, reverent nature.

I finally found your poem at the end of this article. As I read, I found everything to be painfully academic without any spark to it. I thought when I got to the poem that I find something energizing or poetic, but still found the same pedantic description.
I'm sorry, but I don't dig your poem. I do dig dirt and find all kinds of things, living and dead in it, but digging into your poem doesn't like me with any thing inspiring or new.

I have to admit, for all we know, 'autism' could be the next phase in human evolution. It certainly uses the brain more efficiently and more completely than a so-called normal human. I realize in some cases the autistic person finds it difficult to filter the enormous amount of information being processed by their brains and so they get stuck in a world where they cannot communicate because all that noise is interfering. But it is still an indication of an evolutionary process in action.
You know what you've got, Joey, now don't let it lead to hatred, lest paralysis will follow. Always keep your eyes ahead.
