No one knows dear lady. As the chinese say, there is no difference in life spans as all life is short.
I empathise with such pain 2009 I went to many funerals.
Nowt can we change, guilt is futile. Life refuses to give warnings, thus you could never have known. But in you few decades take your chosen road.

Blow up all barriers. So many use them as a security blanket. Or to appease their so called friends.
