Ah, a translation. I was wondering why it seemed in some way so disconnect and abstract. I don't have time to dissect it, but I believe the poem is famous, and that's why you have translated for us.
I have a longtime friend from Bombay who is, but does not practice, a Zoroastrian. He named his three sons, Cyrus, Darius and Xerxes. The Persian civilization runs deep, as evidenced in your poem, over 5000 years. I hate to see it overrun by Muslim fanatics. No wonder the poem is so mournful.

Your imagery and passion are sublime. Through both the imagery and passion expressed in Knotweed I sense both the anguish and tenacity.
The title "Knotweed" is perfect and says much in itself.
