My dad was there, about to be assigned to the Arizona as a newly graduated from the Academy, Ensign...fortunately others who knew him took him on a birthday bash up in the hills (his birthday was Dec 6th) & they watched the attack from their vantage point there, unable to even throw a rock at approaching aircraft...Ed

I, at present & for past few years, live in a motorhome in a campground in NJ, and what i don't use for 6 months gets tossed as most all of my personal possessions from my parents and such burned up in a fire that destroyed my life up to that point...but this piece of yours certainly brought about memories of things I did have at one point & the things I will never again buy, just to have them...Ed & Rufuz [w00f]

Oh my God Michael all the torture and torment you endured and you are right the scars never go away. Most times they change the person who left, never to be the same again. What your eyes have seen, forever etched in your mind to be relived so many times over. It was like that for my first husband who would even wake sometimes drenched in his own sweat. I stand and salute you and others like you who have given so much and yet receive so little....

I hear you: some of the scars are external, most are internal. Some have healed; some barely cover the surface of a festering mass of nightmares or pain. Some don't have Purple Hearts (like me), but all served ... why our goverment needs to keep its promises to our Veterans!! Well done, Sir. Welcome home.

Your write beautiful, heartwarming verse from your heart and I do understand what I call the separation factor as my first husband spent much time away during the Viet Nam War. Used to leave my door unlocked for other new mothers to come in and together we could see our way through the lonliness. Godspeed to all our troops always...
