Not only a prophecy. It appears to be coming true for people all over the world trying to protect their precious lands from corporate greed and unnecessary consumption of the masses.
When I think of how my people survived down through eons to me and my three brothers, it seems amazing. I have no children, but each of my two younger brothers have sons.
I read that indigenous people throughout the world are being enlisted to help solve the problems with the global warming affecting ecosystems everywhere. Partnerships like this should help the "peoples" but probably won't help the entire population if we don't act quickly to correct what we're doing.
Thanks for reminding us of what is happening everywhere to people on the land. Family branches broken forever.

You indeed, at a wonderful family and this tribute, so near to the death of former president, Jimmy Carter, comes home to me with the provision of so many homes given to so many people partly through their own sweat equity. What a wonderful way to teach!
Kindergarten teachers are at the center of who we become at that critical point of going to our first formal school. I regret that my kindergarten was only 2 weeks long.
These ancestors who gave their lives are of interest. Was it World War I and World War II? More poetry along those lines would be appreciated.

So lyrical and surreal just like many dreams. A joy to read and perhaps, sing.
There was a poignant note about "tree line receding." A very real concern about the loss of trees. It is interesting to note that the buffalo that roamed the central North American continent before the Europeans came and changed the landscape to farming, kept trees from growing by trampling them throughout their range all the way to Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
Most Midwestern towns and farms have many trees where there were none when the buffalo roamed free.

That certainly is imaginative. But I think "slithering geese" goes a bit too far. ;-) While making the meter and rhyme almost perfect.
Once in a while I like to write nonsense poems, too.
