I am the author of "The Winds of Destiny" and signed my book at the Family & Farm Showcase 5-7 Sept 2002, where I met Linda Childress, an impressive and talented author. I spent my fair share of time cropping tobacco and pulling suckers from it, therefore I know about the hard work that Linda wrote about in her Book, A Tobacco Farmer's Daughter. This book is destined for success, because lots of people who never worked on a tobacco farm or in agriculture, can live out their desires and fantasies about farm work, by reading Linda's book. I love Linda's book because she wrote it exactly the way she talks, which is country. I have always found people from the country or rural areas to be very genuine in their thoughts and feelings. Country folk are very supportive of each other and I witnessed this by the successful signings that Linda and I had during the three day event. I look forward to reading more of Linda's sequel(s) to her book because her book and its contents were a breath of fresh air. Her book is about innocence and a hard day's work. Both are food for the soul. That is why God made all work sacred and he does not place one occupation above the other. Success to me is growing and harvesting the things of nature. Drive on Linda and do not let fame ruin your values or ethics, because when it is all over and done with, we always got to go back home one day. Whether it be during good or sad times. It is always great to go home with one's head held up high...

Now that life if much easier for all of us, I can't imagine doing all the work that we did during those years. I am very proud of Linda for putting down all of these memories. We will forever cherish them in this book. I love you my second daughter.

I think its a delightful book - it will make you laugh. . . it will make you cry. I enjoyed it very much.

I could not believe this was a first time writing for this author. This book holds your interest and leaves you wanting more. The author takes you along with her as she remembers her past in such a way that you feel you have actually experienced the same things. Very informative about tobacco farming and real life on a farm. This book touched me emotionally with parts where I smiled and even where I laughed out loud along with parts that made me "tear up" as I actually felt the author's pain. All in all this little book is simply a "good read"!
