A cute and reassuring tale for the little ones in gentle rhyme makes a fun poem. Lila's solution to her normal fear of leaving Mom is one that other children can learn from. I love your ending "don't ever give in". Inspirational!

many of my students brought themselves to class if mom was working or otherwise unable to come with them.

A cute little story poem. Lila seems to be given a lot of responsibility from the time she steps on that bus until she opens the classroom door. Aren't first-day kindergartners greeted at the bus? When I was in college on the first day, I sometimes had trouble finding the classroom!
If only mothers could just be able to tell their worried children to turn their sad into excitement. I don't think it is as easy as that. It might be as easy as them wearing a poem like this, or it might not. If the child is going to be able to be happy in new, strange situations like the first day of kindergarten, mother's have to start teaching them how to do that long before the first day arrives.

...an amazing story-poem of a cat...who was abandoned...rescued with Kathy's love...and now enjoys being stroked and having a good chin scratch...Kudos!to Kathy!...a little girl with a big heart!
