     Separations

                                           Separations

She said:

"My love
for you
ended badly-
and I have frozen it
in time
in the netherland
of my Body's Brain.

This also means
a certain kind of smothering
that I cannot with you share
because I have to simultaneouly
place you in Ex-Land
while still denying
you've gone.

I harbor you still
in my night-time
secret places
where you continue
to live in my Pillow's Tears
amid my
unresolved fears
my pressing Reluctances.

You?"

He said:

I placed you aside
no hurt intended here
and focused my eyes
on the bottom
of my whiskey drink and working
dulling
pain
with Strangled Spirits
and False Bravados;
flirting with other women
seeking reassurances
that I
was desirable
and still whole.
You?

She said;
There are differences here
you should understand
that I
risked not only love
work and children
and pregnancies
opening up
intimacies
most men don't understand.

Seperation
leaves behind
with me
much more of the liason
because you became
a part of my body
in a way
I was
not yours.

He was caught
in Truth's Cold Eye
discovering bluntly
Man
is
not
Woman
in
Separations.

We both
then
planted that Question Mark Kiss

knotted in that Semi-finish.
destined to drag our Dead Love
into the future
bound and gagged
in the truck of the car
because all Past Loves
are Dead Poets;
brilliant in demise
as we ignore the muffled cries
in our car's rear;

driving toward some future
tamping down the present
with a finger
dipped in
past jaded
beautiful memories.

We, too, smother past poets
placing them away in the dark closet
because New Love
most often
doesn't share our love of
Former Poets and Poetries.

We reel in the Future now
born strangled;
Hoping New Love
while born in cold
will in time bloom.

Our warm Loves Coat
is in the closet
which means
at odd times
in the chill
we dream of dead Loves and  Poets,

who sometimes
don't remain
dead still
in the trunk of the car
in the closet
in the category
nil.
