A feline's wisdom teaches me patience.
One of my cats got scared by the neighbors dog and took off. She was gone until the 22nd of May. I posted signs, we have a fox and coyotes in the area. Everyone told me the worst had happened. On the morning of the 22nd, my phone rang and a friendly woman Ms Richards, shared she had just seen my cat. I rushed from work, flying up the road, my hair blowing in the hot CA sun. I reached the house where she had been seen.I climbed down the hill calling her name. Champagne ... payneee ... up popped her brown ears and face and her blue eyes flicker in the sun. My next challenge, the two fences between us. I called her, but being the aloof Seal Point Siamese she totally ignored me. I climbed up the hill went around to the other side of the house. By that time she had worked here way through into a pool fenced area. Time for me to the owners and get inside. As I approached the front door a deer darted off the porch, now I thought, something is up with that!.I got to the door, peaked inside and it was sitting empty. Okay what now? Back down the hill, now I have to climb over the 8ft high fence. Now I'm no youngster either. But Champagne had been gone two and half weeks, so here I go. Once on the other side Champagne runs behind a tarp me in slow pursuit, behind the tarp I find a open 2 foot crawl space. You guessed it! Paynee had moved inside to the middle of the underground foundation. I called her, she just sat there looking at me indifferent. I sat down to relax and wait.45 minutes later, Paynee is still chilling out under the house. HMMMMMM what now, it's hot out here!.I move a chair to a large patio window and climb out and go up the hill then crawl over a iron banister and go home. I'm changing from brown sandals into tennis shoes for a better grip. Now I get the food container she is used to hearing it rattle.Back down the hill over the wrought iron gate, climbing on a rock I lift myself up through the patio window. Back down to the concrete slab and over to the foundation door. I rattled the food container and here she comes running.Waiting patiently as she eats, I grab her at the nap of the neck and bring her to my chest...both of our hearts are beating so fast.I feel so relieved and I am so grateful for her return. Truly it is a celebration of Gratitude for her protections and safe return. Thank you God!And everyone else who contributed to her safety while she was away.
