A miserly husband finds out he has only a short time left to live.
He instructs his wife that when he dies he wants all his money buried with him, and he makes her swear on the bible and her oath that she will comply with his wishes.
Later that same month he dies, and just before the undertaker screws down the lid of the coffin, she dashes over to it with a shoebox under her arm. She then puts the shoebox into the coffin and the undertaker shuts the lid.
"What was in the box?" her friend nosily asked.
"Well when the pig died, he made me swear under oath to have all his money buried with him. So I gathered up every penny he had."
"And you put it in that shoebox?" her astonished friend asked.
"No" came the reply. "I put the money in the bank," she answered.
