Budapest. Spring 1951.
The days grew longer and school started to irritate me more than usual. I knew I was falling behind, but I just could not work up enough enthusiasm even to get concerned, let alone worry about it. I felt remote from the rest of the class and as for the teachers.... well they were from a different world. There was just no contact on any level with them. They bored me to death and I only existed in their eyes as just another dull face. And now, after having broken off with Vera, the feeling of loneliness has descended on me with the kind of heaviness that was hard to bear at times. Certain of my hormonal activities were shifting into top gear and I could hardly think of any subject or object that did not remind me in some way of certain female anatomical features, or even worse. Sexual fantasies occupied something like 99.9% of my brain-cells; something like 99.9% of the time and the remaining .01% must have just trailed on.
Peter, I really loved this story. I never knew how boys really feel. Like yourself they just deal with it I guess. Hard being a teenager. seems like it's harder for boys w/ your story here, This story is fun, heart touching and truly shows that you really have not changed a bit. The way you write everything in here just puts me right there watching, beside you.Fantastic Autobiography. The parts of the Era still just angers me and breaks my heart. I still am thinking about your Mother and the horror all of you went through. Where you left this story off at is the truth that you still carry today about yourself;"And I suspect I never really managed to break a single heart. Except - perhaps - my own."
I'm anxious for you to finish this story. your life was full and that is so obvious. I'm reading your first autobiugraphy and it is just as captivating hearttouching and informational, so may emotions and eye openers and I love those family photos that you placed in there. That's really nice. All the footnotes you put I really love hearing about your life for it was interesting and full. and still is. These are stories that everyone needs to read! I'm not just saying that I mean that!!
