Plymouth ~ "Instead of staying at Lyme, he went off to Plymouth,
and then he went off to see Edward." This is the intriguing news Admiral Croft presented Anne Elliot as they walked along a quiet street in Bath. After he was certain Louisa Musgrove would recover fully, the Captain leave Lyme, but we are never privvy to what he did while in Plymouth.
A Brother is Born for Adversity ~ "I was six weeks with Edward," he said, "and I saw him happy.
I could have no other pleasure. I deserved none..." Indeed,
after the Captain's ungentlemenly behaviour towards Anne Elliot,
the Captain deserved very little but to see another happy.
But he and his brother have had a restrained relationship over
the years. and in this story, Frederick finds out why.
For You Alone ~ "For you alone I think and plan." When the Captain arrives in Bath
he realises that he is not the only man who finds Anne Elliot a
woman of superior mind and character. Is he perhaps too late to make
amends for the past?
The Knowledge of His Being There ~ "...and with Captain Wentworth, some moments of communications
continually occuring, and always the hope of more, and always
the knowledge of his being there." What a difference a day makes!
Now that the Captain and Anne Elliot have renewed their engagement,
how are the people around them affected by the knowledge?
