Tamyra Williams just found out that she will never be able to walk again without help. As you can imagine, she is very depressed.

Tamyra Williams, who lives in New Jersey, was on her way to visit her sister in Austin, Texas, when, while driving in Nashville, Tennessee, she got involved in a horrific car accident that left her badly injured.

Tamyra was driving her Volkswagen Beetle when she was hit by a HUMMER. She suffered devastating injuries.
I am so mad I can't see (or think) straight.

The G.D. doctor just told me the news, the news I didn't want to hear. But I am afraid it is true . He just flat out told me that I am not going to walk again; more than likely, I will need a wheelchair, or, if I DO walk, I will need to use a walker or crutches.

Hi. This is Tamyra Williams. If that name doesn't ring a bell, I was the woman who was drivin' her Bug, and I happened to get into an accident involving my Bug and a HUMMER. I was on my way to Austin, Texas, to visit my sister (she lives there; I live in Jersey--New Jersey--) when, while driving through Nashville, Tennessee, I got involved in a car wreck involving my Bug and a HUMMER. Well, you can probably guess as to who won the round: certainly NOT ME! As you can imagine, my Bug was TOTALLED, and I was nearly totalled myself. I suffered devastating injuries to my legs, and I have only recently gotten the G.D. fixator removed from my legs.

I had this done several days ago, and I am still feeling pretty spacey from the meds I am still getting in my I.V., but at least all the other tubes are gone..well, except for the pee tube in my bladder; can't get around too well yet. So I am either stuck in my bed, or am stuck in my wheelchair, and after a while, my ass gets SORE! I have to have help to and from my bed or to and from my wheelchair, and whenever I DO go anywhere, it's either to x-ray, therapy, or to my room (or, for a change of pace, the stupid dayroom). I am so bored of G.D. television and the newspaper I can just SPIT! And I have read all my books a thousand times, it seems like; it seems like I know what I have read by heart! In fact, I can probably tell you what the books I read were about!

I haven't had many visitors (except maybe the nurses or the vampires or worst of all, my DOCTOR!!); and the only one who has REALLY paid me any mind at all is the one nurse, Louisiana Sandusky, but she is busy herself. She has at least a million other patients to tend to besides myself, and she then goes home to her family, and she then has to deal with her husband and their village of kids! (I say VILLAGE because she and her husband have taken in over 4 DOZEN handicapped kids into their home. I say, good for them, but they are F***ing NUTZ!!) Hell, seeing Louisiana just about every day IS better than not having ANY visitors at all, even if it IS for a quick hello!

I am afraid I am not handling my news very well; it seems like all I have done today was cry my eyes out. I don't know if I can handle being in a wheelchair all the time or the idea of not being able to walk again without help. I am afraid what my sister may think when I go back home, and I am afraid that when I DO get back home, I'll get fired from my job; and with Christmas coming up....f***, I DON'T want to think about THAT! Merry ****in' Christmas to me, right?? Well, I CAN assure you ONE thing..it WON'T be "Merry", THAT is for DAMN sure! What kind of Christmas is it gonna' be for me when I am gonna' be stuck in this G.D. hospital with NO idea of WHEN I'll get out??

~To be continued.

This type of thing happens so often...and is even more devastating when it happens during the "happy" season.

Another excellent story, Karen.
