Louisiana finally buckles down and answers a letter from her Inuk friend, Sikik Eegeesiak, in Barrow, Alaska after over a week of not answering it.

Dear Sikik Grace:
I am so sorry for not answering your latest letter, but in case you don't know, I am busy, very busy! LOL Between trying to answer emails, take care of a husband and a passel of growing children, and working, I have very few instances where I can really say I am free. I have so many demands and so much to do it's a wonder my head doesn't start spinning or my eyes don't cross! LOL I do hope you forgive me for my lapse in not answering your latest letter!
I hope this finds you well. I am well; and my family is too. Ronee' is anxiously awaiting the day to where she can get her cast taken off her broken arm; she has had it on for a little over three weeks, so she has at least two and a half weeks to go before she can. She finds it a big inconvenience, and she is itching to get out of her wheelchair and start using her crutches again! She is afraid if she doesn't get the cast off soon, she'll forget how to walk! LOL Isn't that silly??
Johnny is fine, thanks for asking. Thanks for sharing the tidbit about Igri being the Inutpiat word for "John"! That's quite fascinating! He is getting ready for the MDA telethon this Sunday night and Monday; we will all be there at the studio, answering phones and taking pledges for people donating, and it promises to be a very busy, but fun, time! Yes, it will be sad not seeing young Mattie Stepanek on the national telethon, but he is now with Jesus, and his pain and suffering is now no more; still, people will miss him. I know I will; I have met Jerry Lewis, but I have not met Mattie; but sure would have loved to have had that chance! He seemed like a young personable young man with a gifted mind, and a spirit of courage and strength that made people care and listen to what he had to say! I know my son, Johnny, was heartbroken when he heard the news that young Mattie Stepanek had died, and I felt so bad for him because Mattie was one of his biggest heroes! In fact, you will notice that I put a picture of Mattie Stepanek with Jerry Lewis on this letter; I wanted you to see the smile on this young man's face and know that even though he had a very serious disease, he was a very happy young lad who lived his life to the very fullest. I wanted to let you know that we are very involved with the local MDA chapter because of my son, and also to raise awareness of the seriousness of the 40 neuromuscular diseases that strike people, often when they are just kids. We must do all we can to ensure that these diseases are eradicated in our lifetime so people can have a chance at life!
Speaking of Johnny, his dog, "Ginger", is well and happy again; and we now know to keep the chocolate out of her reach. We were in Louisiana at LeCajun, and when we got home, we found "Ginger" in great distress; and we knew from one look at her that she was truly and seriously sick, and it scared the hell out of all of us! We thought she was going to die; but the veterinarians at the animal hospital saved her life, and she recovered with no aftereffects! It was a Miracle that she even survived being poisoned like that!
Ronee' did great at her audition. She auditioned for the upcoming show "America's Most Talented Kids", which will be on PAX tv this October; and she had her callback (second audition) yesterday. The producers of the show seemed quite impressed with Ronee' and her singing, and they told us to be looking for a letter in the mail if she was accepted; but if she didn't make it, she would get a phone call. We are hopeful that she will get on, and we are hoping for the former instead of the latter! Keep us in your prayers; pray that she made it to "AMTK"!
Yes, we watched the Olympics, and we really enjoyed them! The Greek people really outdid themselves in making this one of the best Olympics that I can remember; and the Americans really did a number with the medals, didn't they? Over 100 medals! Not bad! But it is too bad of the controversy surrounding Paul Hamm, the American gymnast; but I say that he was not at fault; and no, I don't think that he needs to give back his Olympic gold medal! The JUDGES were the one that screwed up, NOT Paul Hamm! It's a shame that something like this has to happen; it gives both the athletes and the Olympics a bad name! Something has GOT to be done with the judging system; the judging system STINKS! I hope you got to see some of the Olympics, Sikik!
I am glad that your parents are well. That is great to hear! My step-maman, Therese, is doing quite well, and papa, Armand, is doing much better since having his open heart surgery last year. He had a rough time for a while, but he is now back to his former self, and he is happy and (reasonably) healthy for a man in his later 70's! Both DO have disabilities that have slowed them down, but they still get around well for a couple of old goats! LOL (I better not show this to them; they may get annoyed....LOL)
My sisters are well; I am just glad that they aren't in Florida! Boy, what a mess...3 hurricanes (Bonnie, Charley, and now Frances) in a little over a month! NOT good! (My sisters live in Texas except one--Crystal--, who lives here in Nashville.) Bill has nobody in Florida either, thank goodness. His brothers live in Tennessee or Louisiana, and he also has a brother in North Carolina, which was where he was born. All but the youngest--James, or "Jimmy", as he is known as--are married with families of their own; Jimmy is seriously disabled, both physically and mentally, and he may end up going to a residential home for mentally disabled adults. I am sorry to report that my father in law, Daddy (Sam) Sandusky, is not doing well at all: he has emphysema, and he is dying. He is now in the hospital, currently breathing with the aid of a ventilator, and we are waiting for that call to say that he has passed and gone on to Glory; but so far he has managed to hang on. He is in his later 80's, and he has had a good, long life! So we may be attending a funeral before too long!
I hear the weather is getting cool up there. BRRR! So you have had your first frost already. Good sign that fall is not far away! I happen to love fall; I think it is the prettiest time of the year, and here in Tennessee, falls can be quite spectacular! I will be putting in a pic of a Tennessee fall scene in this letter; I do think you will like it! Then you can see what I am talking about! I happen to think that fall time here in Tennessee is breathtaking!
Well, Sikik, have a nice day! I have to answer the phone; hopefully, it's not the news that my father in law has died! I will let you know when and if that happens; until then, be praying for us! Be praying for my husband, Bill, especially; he is really having a hard time emotionally right now!
