Louisiana's friend in Alaska writes to her. She is currently on her way back to Alaska, where she had been on her honeymoon with her brand new husband, Michael. The Doucets were married on September 11, 2004.
Saturday, the 25th of September, 2004~
Dear Louisiana and Family:
This is Jenna Aurora Doucet writing. I got to thinking about you after you wrote to me, and I was missing you, so I decided to write to you. I know you have been busy, what with your kids and husband, plus I heard you have had company; and I didn't want to intrude; so this is why you haven't heard from me.
Michael and myself are on our way back to Alaska; we are now in Canada, heading towards British Columbia. It has been a very long and taxing trip; but Michael and I are fine. I am just tired of sitting; my bum is sorer than sore, and it feels like it is as big AS Alaska! LOL Michael has been pampering me and treating me like a queen, and while I do enjoy the attention, I am still not used to it. I guess it will take time to get used to the fact that I am now an old married woman! LOL (Hell, I AM 44; I am no spring chicken! LOL)
In fact, I was starting to put my maiden name of Whitson when I was thinking of a title for this letter; and I still find myself putting down "Whitson" instead of "Doucet". I guess that will take me a while for me to break old habits, hunh? LOL
The scenery has been beautiful here; I have missed seeing Canada, and I have missed my home back in Anchorage. The weather is cooling down, and according to NOAA, the government weather service, I hear it's been cold in Alaska, with highs in the 40's in Anchorage, and 30's further up north. How is the weather down there in the Lower 48? Is that hurricane anywhere near you? I hope not; I am sorry Florida is facing yet another hurricane! Geez, I bet they are sick of this crap! I know I would if I lived there! Which is ONE reason why I am glad I live in ALASKA! LOL We have seen some wildlife, and we have enjoyed the color of the leaves as they are turning their fall hues; and it has been spectacular (and it hasn't even reached peak color yet!)! I know the leaves down there in Nashville are beautiful; I can see why you love Nashville so much! Nashville IS a nice place to visit, and it IS beautiful, but I just can't handle the summertime temps, and I can't handle the way the people down there drive! They drive CRAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZY!!!! (No wonder I ended up in the shape I did! I should have known better; but no, I wanted to see Michael in Shreveport; and look at how things ended up! NOT good, Jenna, NOT good! LOL)
I heard that Johnny had a seizure yesterday. I hope it wasn't anything serious, and I hope he didn't have to be admitted to the hospital again on account of it! I also heard that Ronee' is now without her cast. I bet she is tickled! Is she back to using her crutches? Because if she is, I bet you can't keep up with her; she is so fast on her sticks! LOL She is like a little CHEETAH! Let me know how both Johnny and Ronee' are doing, and tell them hello from Jenna and Michael, okay? Tell them we send our love to them! They are such sweet, dear children! And your other daughter, Barbara: how is she doing? Is she still having trouble with Algebra? I would help her, but Algebra is like learning Greek: I can't make hide nor hair out of it; it makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever!
Have you heard from your friends in California yet? I hope they are well; tell Kendra that I say hi, and tell her that I am doing better! She seems like a sweet lady with such a big heart! What is new with her?
Mother is doing well; she is all over her recent spate with pneumonia, and she is as fiesty (and ornery) as ever! She acts like a wounded bear at times! LOL My sister, Jerrica, is well, too, as are Tommy and Garrett, but Jerrica is dating again; she is seeing a guy named Moose Tougas, and he looks like a football player! He is BIG, and just his size scares the holy hell out of me! I don't know what she sees in him; he is built like a MOUNTAIN!! LOL (I have met him a few times, and he is okay, but he sure is intimidating each time I see him!) The boys seem to like Moose, he takes them to games and spends time with them, so I guess that is good!
The Lights have been pretty; I wish I could send you some pictures of them! Maybe if they are out tonight, I will take some pics of the Lights, and I can send them to you via the email! I wish y'all had more opportunity to see the Lights like they are up here; I am glad you got to see the Northern Lights when you were up here this past April! Boy, Ronee' sure was in her glory, wasn't she?? I never saw a kid who was so infatuated with the Lights like your daughter! LOL I am glad she enjoys them; well, I do too (excepting for when they turn red; then they are not so nice!)!
Well, dear heart, I know you are busy, so I won't keep you. Besides, my hand is cramping up big time; it is starting to look like a claw, and it is starting to hurt really bad! So I better go before I can't move it at ALL! Then I will have TWO bum hands, and I won't be good for NOTHING!
