You may not remember me, but I wrote earlier. I wrote about myself (how I am 11 years old, that I am a Christian, that I have a family that loves and cares for me, that I am disabled because I had brain damage when I was small, that I walk with forearm crutches and leg braces); now I am going to tell you about Christmas and why it is so meaningful and special to me.
I have always loved Christmas, ever since I was small (or well enough to remember it after my accident), but the first Christmas after my accident was hard. I was wishing for new legs; I didn't want to walk with crutches or ugly braces on my legs; but once I saw that I could walk, even with help, I learned to be grateful that I WAS able to walk, and I decided not to feel sorry for myself anymore. As I learned to accept my disability and the fact that I wasn't able to walk anymore without help, I began to concentrate on wishing for things that a little girl like me could enjoy: a new dolly, some new reading books, a new kitty (or puppy), even a little brother or sister.
I never did get another sister besides Aurora (she's my older sister--my only sister; I have no brothers!--; she's 15), but I DID get the dolly, the reading books (my favorites were and still are the "Little House On The Prairie" books), and even a new puppy, which I named "Champ". I think the Christmas where I got my new puppy was probably the best Christmas I ever had. That was a year ago, and I still have "Champ" now. He is such a sweet doggie, and I love him with all my heart, and I know he loves me, too!
I also love Christmas because we get to go to church and hear about the Birth of Christ, and I love seeing all the twinkling Christmas lights and hearing all those pretty religious Christmas carols. I think "O Holy Night" is probably my favorite! I heard my friend Ronee' sing that during the Cantata last weekend, and it was so pretty I couldn't help but cry! The Cantata will go on again this weekend, and next, and I will get to hear all those pretty Christmas songs again! I think the music is the prettiest part of the Cantata, and I love seeing the angels and Mary and Joseph and Baby Jesus and the Three Wise Mens. They also have animals on stage, and I remember last year, when the donkey pooped on the stage. I couldn't help BUT to laugh, but then mama got mad and she pinched me. Still, I was giggling under my breath!
I also love going Christmas shopping. I get presents for my mama and daddy, and for my sister, Aurora, and I also get something for my doggie, and I also shop for some of my cousins, aunties, and uncles. I also shop for a few friends (Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux, Johnny Sandusky, and also Nicole Aldape). I love going to the mall and seeing all the people and seeing all the pretty decorations. That is always so exciting!! I also get to ride my wheelchair, and I don't have to worry about walking all over on my crutches! I would be sooo tired if I had to do THAT!
On Christmas, we go to our auntie Rosie's house, and see her, her husband (my uncle), Tom, and their kids, my cousins Trevor, Tyler, Tichina, and Tori Anne; and we always have the best time!! We get to open more presents, and then we kids get to play outside or play with our new Christmas things, and the Christmas music is playing on the stereo; and the tree is all lit up and the snow is falling prettily outside, and it is just so much fun!!
I wish it could be Christmas every year; Christmas is such a magical, wonderful time, and I love everything about it, especially the part about Jesus! That's the Reason for the Season, and I wish more people could know that!! If they did, then the world wouldn't be such a bad, ugly place, and people would be just so much nicer!!
