Louisiana has decided to extend her talents as a nurse to help those in need following the devastating earthquake/tsunami that has affected millions in southeastern Asia: she and a team of other nurses and doctors are going to Sri Lanka in the next several weeks to help the victims affected by the disaster.
God has laid something upon my heart, and no matter how hard I try to get rid of it, I CAN'T. He is telling me that I should go to Sri Lanka and help those most affected by the recent tsunami/earthquake.
He did this just after I emailed my friend in Finland, Sari Annika Gustaffssenn, and the more my mind mulls on this and the disaster at hand, the more I want to help. But I don't have the funds to go to Sri Lanka on such short notice, plus I am going to have to get the necessary shots and my passport updated; how in the WORLD am I going to accomplish so much in such a short period of time? And HOW am I going to get the necessary fundings so I can go on this mercy mission?? (I MUST call my church and explain about what God has laid upon my heart and my wanting to help those dear, poor, suffering souls in Sri Lanka....)
I just called my coworkers, and they are excited about the idea: anything to help those affected would be most appreciated by many, and in the process, we will travel to a place we have never been to before, and we would see, hear, smell, and talk of things that we would never really see here in America. Already some of my nurses have volunteered (Jules Montanegra, Gloria Trainor, Kerry Weaver, and others), and some of our doctors have done so too (Dr. Stryker, Dr. Emmons, Dr. Wright, and Dr. Arjuwal). There are at least a dozen of us who have been talking about this, and the more we think about it, the more we are wanting to help. So it looks like we are in for a big adventure in the coming weeks, if things fall into place...
I will keep you posted as things develop. Please keep me and my fellow coworkers in your prayers as we prepare for this sudden new adventure that we are about to embark on, and pray that we get there and back safely and in one piece...
This too is my thoughts but I can't go however I can ask that people go out and by things like food stuff and medicines as well as the persona items that people there need. Don't forget prayer.
