A mother struggles to accept her daughter's fate, as her life hangs in the balance. Her 11-year-old daughter has suffered a devastating stroke and she is in a coma in the hospital.
My name is Eugenia Grace Johnson, and my little girl, Marvella, is still in the hospital, fighting for her very life. She suffered a stroke late last month, and ever since, she has struggled to stay alive; and it seems that my husband, Charles, and/or myself have spent a good chunk of our time here at the hospital, with our little girl.
It seems funny, but up until about a month ago, Marvella was a happy, healthy, normal little girl who had never been sick a day in her life; and then on Friday, January 21, 2005, she collapsed at home while doing the dishes, and she has been hanging on by a thread ever since. She suffered a devastating, debilitating stroke, and no matter what the doctors do for her, she hasn't really responded, and her chances of survival are slipping with each passing day. It will be a month on Monday when Marvella first took sick; and it seems that all Charles or I have done for the past several weeks is CRY.
Marvella went to Eastview Elementary School, and she was in the Gifted/Talented program, and she had many friends; now it seems that nobody even cares. There has been only one friend of hers, Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux, who has called daily to see how she has been faring, and she has also been praying for our daughter; but when one doesn't see any improvement in her condition, it is getting increasingly hard to keep the faith. Marvella was active in basketball and she also loved dancing and singing, and now she just lies there in a hospital bed, tubes hooked up to her, and she is just clinging to life--but barely so. It is so hard seeing her looking so helpless and sick, and it is hard to believe that a once-healthy child has suffered something so severe as a STROKE. Only older people are supposed to have strokes, NOT young, healthy kids! It doesn't make any sense, and I still can't accept tha fact that she may not even make it! I have been flooding the Gates of Heaven with our prayers, in the hopes that some MIRACLE will occur, and hope our daughter will open her eyes and will emerge from this hell!
