Johnny is saddened to learn that his girlfriend had to have her leg amputated.

Dear Rebekkah Rachel~
I am so sorry; I had been wondering about you. I am glad you are home from the hospital, but was sorry to learn that your leg had to be amputated. How horrible! Is there anything I can do for you? If not, I can keep you in prayer!
I am afraid that my news isn't as drastic (maybe that is a good thing in a way??), but it isn't good, nevertheless. My muscular dystrophy has gotten worse, but not as badly as most people who have Duchenne's. I am having more problems with breathing, and it may not be long before my heart starts to become affected. I am having to use my wheelchair a lot more now, and I think my crutches are a thing of the past. I have to be catheterized every four hours, and turned over every two hours. It is really a drag, and it terrifies me because I don't know what the future holds for me.
I had my tests last week, and they were horrible! I think the worst thing was that I wanted my mother to be in the room with me while they stabbed me, but they wouldn't let her come. I was so terrified when they were sticking their needles in me, and it's a wonder I have any blood left! I think they took half my blood volume!
I also had to have a electromyogram (THAT was the worst!!), a myelogram, and an MRI, in addition to x-rays and other things. I was in the hospital about all day Wednesday; by the time I got back home, I was so tired I went directly to bed, where I then slept all night. Mommy said I was sawing logs, I was snoring so loud! LOL
How is the weather there in Cali? Here it is rainy, but it is due to cleare out later and be sunny tomorrow (cooler, too). Then we may have snow on Thursday; crazy springtime weather! I hope the weather has calmed down there; you have probably had more than enough rain to last you the rest of your life! Geezamighty!!
I have found out some good news in the midst of all this doom and gloom: my friend in Alaska, Jenna Aurora Doucet, and her husband, Michael, are having a boy! They found out a few days ago, and mommy heard from her today. That was how we found out, and I bet mommy screamed bloody murder at work! She has been in a very good mood today, and it is good to see her smiling again; she has been a grouch lately! GRR!
Well, Rebekkah, I will let you go. I have to be catheterized now (ick! That is so gross!), so I will write another day. Take care, Rebekkah, and know you are in my prayers now more than ever!
I love you with all my heart and soul, and I miss you too! Maybe you can come this summer; that would be great to see y'all again!

We were not sure if we really wanted to find out about all the bad news. Poor Rebekkah! And Johnny, he is so brave with all his problems! Lovely letter!

Ah, jeez, I'm sorry to hear Rebekkah's leg had to be amputated. I am, however, glad to hear that Johnny's MD isn't getting as worse as first thought. A powerfully written, emotive letter.
