Bill Sandusky's take on the meaning of Easter and why he feels so blessed.
Saturday, April 15, 2006, 7:03 p.m., sitting at the Grand Ole Opry House here in Nashville~
Dear Jouranl~
I am sitting here at the Grand Ole Opry, waiting for the huge orange/red curtains to part, signaling the start of yet another Grand Ole Opry show. My family is with me, and so are Louisa Mason and her niece, Rebekkah Cohen, who are visiting us from Sacramento, California. As you can imagine, they are beyond excited: they both love country music, and they have always wented to go to the Grand Ole Opry. Now it appears that this dream will be coming true in just a few moments from now.
We had our second Cantata performance earlier in the day, and it went without a hitch (other than the power momentarily going out at the wrong time, thus surprising all of us). The actors and actresses in the production performed flawlessly, and Ronee' and the other guest singers sang beautifully. Johnny's signing was impeccable and the deaf members of our church enjoyed the performance just as much as the hearing people in attendance. When the ending scene ended (the Resurrection of Christ into Heaven), quite a few people (mostly young teenagers or adults) went to the altar to accept Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
It was very moving, especially to those who had been praying for their loved ones or friends to get saved. It couldn't have happened at a more prefect time of year. Easter means New Life, and quite a few people will be starting just that, now that they made the most Important Decision of their Lives.
I am just hoping that tomorrow's performance brings out the masses and I hope that some more people get the message of why they need Christ in their lives. I hope that Pastor Bilkey drives the point home and that people who are now confused will see just how simple asking Christ into their lives really is.
After the Cantata ends, we will go out to eat at Fire Mountain (I know the poor employeees won't like it, but hey, we are paying customers; we gotta' eat somewhere! LOL), and then we will go home, where the kids will get their Easter baskets of goodies and they can get their sugar buzz (except for Starlight, as she is diabetic, but that is another story!).
We are having a wonderful tine with Rebekkah Rachel Cohen and her auntie Louisa Mason. They are both disabled, but there is nothing disabled about their can-do spirit! (Louisa has muscualar dystrophy and uses a wheelchair while Rebekkah has pain insensitivity disorder and recently underwent an amputation of her leg after she developed a severe bacterial infection). Both have had to spend time adjusting to their particular situtaions, but both have since triumphed, and they are both doing splendidly.
I am happy to say the weather here has calmed down considerably. The severe weather has finally moved on out, and we are enjoying dry, sunny, warm days. We have had too much in the way of storms lately, and I was more than ready for them to stop! I am just glad we didn't have anyone killled or have any significant damage; it could have very easily been so much worse, but thank GOD we were spared!
Whoops! I will go now; the music is staritng, and from the sounds of it, it is none other than Jimmy C. Newman and "Cajun Country". I will write in here again soon; take care, and remember that Christ still lives today, just as He did over 2,000 years ago! Because of His Mercy, we live in the Hope of Eternal Life, and He has given us a way out of sin and darkness! GLORY!!
