Privyet! I saw your story just a little while ago, and I was compelled to write to you. I hope you don't mind.
To tell you a little about myself, I am married (nearly 15 years now to my husaband, Bill), and my husband and myself both work. I work at a local hospital as a charge nurse (day shift) while my husband works at Wal*Mart, where he is a "people greeter".
We did have three children of our own, but unfortunately, all died (two while still little babies). That was when we decided to adopt children nobody wanted, children who were older than the age of two, children who were of different racial backgrounds, kids who were part of a sibling group, and children who had health problems. We first adopted a boy from Germany, and then a girl from Louisiana; shortly thereafter, seven more children came, and every year since, it seems that a child joins the family!
Our children come from the United States of America, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Africa, Sri Lanka, India, Japan, China, Malaysia, Korea, Vietnam, The Nethrelands, Romania, Russia, Iran, Bosnia- Hercozovina. They range in age from two on up to nearly 24, and all but six live at home with us.
Not all of my kids are disabled, but the majority of them are. Their disabilities range from the barely noticeable to the very obvious, and they have triumphed over them beautifully. We stress that they never should be ashamed of their disabilities, that they try to make it in a world not geared to their problems.
They have persevered astonishingly well.
You will have to tell me more about your children. Now that little boy in the picture: is that Gavrie? If so, he is absoutely beautiful; a handsome little man who is going to be chasing after the ladies for sure when he is a little older! LOL
