Michael Doucet's newborn son, Kenai Reminton, is nearly a month old now; he's still in the NICU, but he appears to be doing a little better.

Dear Journal~
Michael here. Sorry for not writing; just haven't had the time. I hope you understand.
Between runnin' back and forth from the hospital and our home (plus check in on our other son, Mattaq), I am physically and mentally beaten. I feel like I've been drugged: I'm so tired I don't know who I am or where I'm at half the time!
Jenna and Kenai are still in the hospital: Jenna is getting stronger every day, she is now able to eat; nose hose gone. She is so glad of that! She may be getting out next week, to continue her recovery. As for Kenai, he is still in the NICU, still sick, yet he is gaining weight: he now weighs 2 pounds, 3 ounces. He's getting so big!
He is now past the danger zone; yet he isn't completely out of the woods just yet. So many things can still happen. He's still vulnerable to infection or complications resulting from his earlier-than-expected birth; this is one reason why they have him in the NICU, where he can be closely monitored.
Jerrica, Jenna's sister, has been taking wonderful care of Kenai. She has been a wonderful addition in our time of need; we are grateful to have her in our lives.
Church has also been helping out: they've given us clothes for the new baby, new clothes for Mattie, toys, even food and cash; anything to make our lives a little bit easier, which we greatly appreciate!
The weather here is cold, cold: highs in the 20s to 30s, with lows in the teens at night. We've had some snow already; I heard yesterday on the news that Barrow was under blizzard warnings. Nice.
I will have to call Sikik to see if she's okay; she lives in Barrow; we don't need her getting out in that stuff!
Louie Sandusky caused some excitement at her church on Sunday: she thought she was going into labor; it turned out to be nothing more than severe gas pains. She ended up having to go to the ER to be checked out; this was what the ER doctor concluded.
In any event, Louie is now banished to bed until the babies come; she is not to do a thing, even lift a finger, until it's time to deliver her twins!
Well, I'm getting stupid, so I'm backin' out of here. I will write with another Jenna/Kenai update soon; stay tuned! In the meantime, keep those prayers coming! They are always very much appreciated!
Hang in there, Kenai! --I'm liking these soap opera-style up-dates. --Charlie

Such well informed updates both on the medical front and the emotional front. You have a way of writing that draws the reader in. I was especially concerned for Louie! So glad I dropped by. Hope all goes well for Michael and his family! Keep up the great writes!
Michael sounds like he's about ready to collapse, but being the dedicated father/husband he is, he continues on...to the point of exhaustion! Now that's love. :) Excellent write, hope all continue to improve. :)
Sounds like Michael has much going on and like others running on adrenaline...encouraging how a church family can help out family members in need! The sisters in our church used to have what we called Charmin parties. If a sister in the church was having a tough financial situation we would throw them a little secret shower, each sister would buy items of necessity such as deodorant, dish detergent, laundry detergent, Charmin, tooth paste, things that one has to have and often takes for granted. Several sisters commented that had we not done this they didn't what there family would have done, how that it helped them to have the extra money that they needed for utility bills, little extras that their children needed at school and such. I also noticed a wonderful unity between the sisters in the church, and those that received were usually the first to give back at the next shower! We've not had one of these in a while, but they are well remembered and mostly given during the days of coal failure in our community, and right now it is booming so economy local is much better now than then, thank the Lord! Great write, filled with heart!
Blessings,
Joyce B.
