Dear Audrey~
Thank you for writing back. I was certain you'd never write to me again after the tongue-lashing I gave to you last time. You didn't deserve to be treated like that. What I did and how I acted was totally un-Christlike, and I am writing to say that I am genuinely sorry.
I know you have been angry; I don't blame you. I am glad that you are willing to give our friendship another chance.
I am willing to do the same.
I am not normally like this. I guess it's because of all the stress I've been under at work as well as on the homefront. I have been having to work extra hours, often had to work well over my allotted forty hours a week because of the stupid nursing shortage. I have had to work as much as 80+ hours during any given week and have had to take many weekend shifts.
At home, I have two children who are recovering from surgery; they have been released from the hospital, yet they're not completely well. I have to help them whenever needed. In addition, I have nearly two-month-old twin boys that take a lot of my time. You know how newborns can be!
Then you have the rest of the brood: Gemini, Emir, Jo-El, Richard, Vijay, Janica, Emma, Opal, Jodie, Todd, etc., etc. They demand my time as well. So I am not only a nurse and a mom: I'm also a chauffeur, a maid, a cook, a counsellor, even a teacher.
*Siggggggggggggh!*
Seems that my work is never done. No wonder I'm so blasted tired all the time!
Sometimes I think it was a mistake to take in all these kids; yet my heart couldn't say "no"; guess I'm in it for the long haul! LOL
Made my bed; now I have to lay in it!
Audrey, I was most happy to hear that Susie is doing a little better. That is most encouraging! Please tell her we say hello and that we are still lifting her up in prayer.
How are the other children? Bet they keep you hoppin'; know mine do! Sheeshamighty!! LOL
How's the weather there? Here it's cold, and we have about a foot of snow on the ground. No doubt the kiddies will want to get out in it tomorrow. Of course, the dogs will want to join in the fun while our Maine Coon Cat "Cajun" and new orange tabby kitten "Ricochet" will sit in the window, watching all the goin's on outside. Hope the weather isn't bad where you are.
I'm glad that you are going to help Micah and Naomi out when Naomi is released from the rehab facility. You are a good friend. I just hope that Micah can handle the other kids by himself.
I've done this very thing when my daddy and his wife (my step-mom) moved to Tennssee from Louisiana to live with us. It was a huge adjustment for all. At times it still is. Papa is extremely stubborn in nature and now that he is going to be 79 this year, he's more set in his ways.
Thank GOD his health is a little better, but he still needs monitoring every few months or so. He is quite disabled, not as spry as he once was.
Well, Audrey, have to get supper on; then it's off to church for the evening services. Tonight it's hot dogs and baked beans, lettuce-and-tomato salad, and for dessert, my homemade apple strudel.
Take care and write back soon; I'm so happy to know that we're both trying to work on our friendship. It is too important not to hold any grudges towards each other. Let's start fresh from scratch and put the past behind us. It's only right!
Such a beautiful letter and apology...and you're right, Karen, friendship is something that we need to work at to keep strong...IF...it's important to us!
being friends is being able to say you are sorry and accept a squabble every now and then and realize life is always easy. Thank you for sharing.
